So the SEC is pulling favors and/or getting payouts from Texas? Or maybe it's the Texas Bowl getting favors from Texas who is then asking the SEC not to send A&M to their bowl? But of course it's Texas not wanting A&M to get the money even though the payouts between the 2 bowls are identical.

Edit: Sorry not trying to come off as a dick since you're just posting what you're hearing. Just annoying that it's always been Texas not wanting to play despite it being the SEC's ultimate choice regardless of any inner workings. And then the money thing which really doesn't make sense.

They don't want to rekindle the rivalry period. They've been butthurt and childish ever since A&M left for the SEC. God forbid the school did something to better their program.

This team, that team, whichever, bottom line is they could have played a game by now if both schools wanted to.

Maybe but it’s still not ideal if UT wants to play a variety of power 5 teams with only 3 non-conf games. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a new partership between the teams announced whenever the next era of conference alignment is worked out and Texas inevitably goes back to a 4 non conf schedule which I think is going to happen one way or another. You never know though. It’s a little silly to try to figure out what the Texas policy is right when when they don’t have an AD.

The SEC scheduling format is still crazy to me. A&M hosts Florida once every 12 years since they only have 1 rotating opposite division game (along with annual “rilvary” game) but keeping 4 non conference games was worth it.

Really strange end of the first half in the Las Vegas Bowl. Boise was all over Oregon up 24-0 and driving for more with a little more than a minute left in the first half.

Then they tried to call back to the 2005 Fiesta Bowl and run a Statue of Liberty play only to fumble it and have Oregon run it back for a TD. On the next drive, they hit a big pass play to get back in the red zone, but then Brett Rypien threw a pick-six, getting the Ducks within ten at 24-14. Oregon looked completely lifeless prior to those two plays.

What's a guy have to do to get ONE competitive bowl game?

You can argue about the quality of play in the pre-Christmas bowl games and whether or not they're needed, but generally speaking, there are at least a couple completely bonkers games from this bunch every year. This year, it's been pretty much nothing but blowouts.

Long story short, FSU's win over Deleware State shouldn't have counted towards bowl eligibility. Western Michigan, UTSA, and Buffalo were all eligible and left out for FSU.

This story made me laugh because FSU jumped over hurdles to make sure they got into a bowl game (namely, rescheduling the game against ULM), but ultimately, I wonder if they would have gotten in anyway even if they had noticed. A team can submit a waiver to become bowl eligible if they aren't eligible by the letter of the law, and if left up to the bowl committees, I'm sure they would have taken the brand of FSU over any of the other eligible teams. It's probably not fair to the other programs, but if FSU had found out about their ineligibility and quietly submitted the waiver, I can't imagine the bowl games and the NCAA shutting out the Seminoles in favor of WMU, UTSA, or Buffalo and there's a good chance that we would never have known better.

Of course, that would create a slight risk of some blowback in the event that a FOIA request or something along those lines turned up that they had submitted the waiver.

Even the competitive bowl games are kind of brutal. We're nearing halftime between Texas Tech and South Florida, two teams known for having good offenses this season, and we have a 10-3 game.

It's not as high-scoring as I would have figured, but TTU and USF are giving us a fun finish. Tech up three with 1:31 left.

Tech's defense has been better this season, but they really had no answer for USF on that decisive drive. They couldn't contain Flowers on the scramble, and they just simply got burned on that TD pass.

Army's rushing attack is really something to behold.

They don't really have a bunch of huge plays where guys are running out in open space, but every single run seems to feature the back being slowed down after three or four yards, only for the back to find a way to push the pile for three or four more yards.

The halftime stats for that game are hilarious.

SDSU has 13 yards passing (on 7 throws). Army has 0.

SDSU has 150 yards rushing - on 8 carries (18 ypc)
Army has 230 yards rushing on 43 carries (5 ypc)

SDSU has run 15 total plays in the half and has 21 points.

Watch out for Khalil Tate next year. While Arizona was stonewalled and he was picked off on the last desperation drive, this guy is gifted. He was deadly accurate while tossing 5 TD passes and +300 yards.

He's also one of the most gifted runners in all of college football.

Fortunately, Purdue pulled it out on a late drive after looking horrific the entire 2nd half.
