Reality is the offers for these guys have been bigger than we have all been led on. If the WSox really had a potential bigger offer on the table, Harper no doubt has 300 million offers also.

Looking like it hasn’t been “greedy owners” as much as these two trying to squeeze out every cent they can. At some point I’m not sure they care about the actual difference in money and care more about being able to be the “biggest FA deal” ever

Trout should simply have a clause in his contract that allows him to re-negotiate every year if he chooses to.... he's that good, that consistent, that valuable, and he shouldn't be hampered by a contract that doesn't pay him as the best player in baseball simply because of inflation/economics.

I'm waiting for the day where some big market team guarantees that player X will always be the highest paid/year.

harper has to get atleast 350. 10/350 is a hefty price. Makes you wonder how the hell the astros will be able to sign Correa/bregman together while keeping springer/altuve.

The days of frivolous payroll shenanigans in MLB are pretty much null and void.... hoarding/developing prospects has become the new arms race.

Out of Bregman, Correa, Cole, Springer, and Verlander, Houston will be lucky to extend 3 of them, and the over/under is actually closer to 1 than 2. My guess is that one of Springer/Cole/Verlander get extended before opening day, with one of Correa/Bregman getting extended prior to free agency. I think Luhnow/Crane feel pretty comfortable in their ability to develop or trade for starting pitching.

When FA signings make up about 13% of a team's WAR, but close to 30% of a team's budget on average, this is to be expected.

Bregman becoming a youtube star should be some foreshadowing of the future. Bregman is going want to get paid and if you follow his mentors on social media there all business tycoons. Correa is going to New york and ive already accepted that. Breg>

Social media detectives would say Correa ends up in Boston if not Houston. In 2017 during the playoffs, he posted a lot about how amazing the city is. Mostly, it was his then girlfriend that swooned over the city. Add that to the fact that Alex Cora is their manager

My guess is Boras/Harper are bringing the Dodgers back in to try to nudge the Phillies to bump their offer up a bit.

If Harper goes to Philly, that is gonna be one volatile player/fanbase relationship.

I'd be very unhappy if I was Philly right now. Waiting for Harper to decide has cost them the chance at a lot of free agents. Basically, they have let themselves get backed into a wall such that they have no significant position player options left if he signs elsewhere. I think Philly wants both Harper and Keuchel.

Then they should give their final offer and go ahead and secure Keuchel while he’s still available.

If they’re in an all out bidding war for Harper (likely bidding against themselves), they have nobody else to blame but themselves.

Philly knows exactly what harper wants. Offer the man 10/350 and im sure he'll sign on the spot

not say Harper is not good, but I don't think he's worth that much for 10 years
