I think this is the first time he bluntly said this, whereas year prior whe wpuld just spiel some other crap like 'defense first' and blah blah

I expect some new faces at QB that aren't complete scrubs this off-seasom

the actual quote is a little less blunt than the title..

"You can’t undermine the rest of your team [in the draft] while you’re trying to get a quarterback"..."It’s a question of who’s available. We’re working on that. We think there are some good prospects out there."

Recent word is, '17 is the draft for a QB. We don't need the team reaching this year out of desperation.

As long as they don't reach too aggressively for Hackenberg, I'm fine with whatever happens regarding the QB. I agree that '17 will be a better draft for a QB.

I say you draft a QB every single year until you find one that can play. Without a QB you are going nowhere.

Too bad. McNair doesn't do purposeful tanking.

If there was ever finally a season to tank for a QB, it's this season. 2017 class is LOADED with QB prospects, best one in years. We also have a tremendously hard schedule this year.

I'm glad McNair doesn't share this attitude. A lot of owners do. A bad quarterback, especially in the first round, can set your franchise back 2 years. It used to be worse before the guaranteed contracts.

If there are good players available I don't want to ignore them, especially in the first round, where we've landed Watt, Hopkins, Brown, etc... while other teams in our division have reached for Locker's, Young's and Gabbert's.

I'm not opposed to taking 2-4 QB's in a single draft to strengthen the portfolio, or grabbing one we believe in with our 1st round pick, but reaching too far kills. One dud mega-QB investment and the O'Brien era will be over in a heartbeat.

    want ad:
can make short throws and intermediate throws accurately, doesn't hold on to the ball for long, can improvise, not the strongest arm but can read defenses.

Also, full set of hair a must!

With how brutal our upcoming schedule is this coming year we probably be in the lottery pick in 2017 draft.

if they're working on it "NOW", i'm assuming he means trade for a current nfl qb since the draft is 4 months out. best we can hope is that the texans have called about brees, stafford, kap, maybe even rivers. none might be available but you have to do your due diligence and at least find out who is and the price.

    Too high of a pick
Not much better than this year's QBs
    Too short

Mayfield would be like the QB #5 this year.

I don't buy next year necessarily being better for QBs. With a severe lack of legit NFL QB prospects coming out of college, next year always seems better until it gets here.

    Sure BOB......

You already passed up your QB when you passed on Derek Carr.

We all know you are going to end up trading for/signing someone like Brock Osweiler, Sam Bradford or Kirk Cousins....

Just hurry up and do it so we can welcome our clone of Scott Mitchell/Matt Cassel to the Texans fold.
