Anyone wentot Big3 in Houston? I saw a few minutes on TV. Charles Oakley was coaching Metta and Stephen Jackson team and they were down big. Oak’s message during time our was “Play basketball, man!” And he repeatedly said so many times. Is this better coach mantra than “play harder”?
Surprisingly entertaining. Especially that last game, the Nate Robinson Rashad McCants beef was pretty good.
What if one day a team struggles to get to 25 (halftime ) or 50 to win? I got tired of watching bricks and changed channels a few times.
Abdul-Rauf with another clutch throwback performance. No way they've should won with Rashard out, Stephen Jackson looks really good lately and even in this game, but too much Mahmoud. Give him an inch and he will bury you. This guy could play 5-10 minutes for the Rockets easily and hit threes at a 40% clip.
It's too bad Abdul-Rauf didn't play in today's basketball. He's tailor made for the modern NBA. The guy is 49 years old and torching people that just got out of the NBA. And the fact that he's capable of getting around screens at his age is pretty hard to comprehend. Amazing stuff.
i don't watch big3, but watching MAR just drain 3's in that highlight was pretty awesome. that quick release. crazy that he apparently only had 27 30 point games in his career. seemed like a lot more (only had 3 10 assist games in the 30 point games and yet one was a 20 assist game). also thought he scored 50 against the rockets but apparently 36 was his high against us (4th highest of his career, did have 51 against someone else).
Never really watched it but saw it on TV the other day as I was flipping channels and the arena looked jam packed.
Would be great if they actually make a real league out of this, a whole summer (Jun-Sep) with 16 teams or so. Each plays each other twice, then playoffs with a best out of 3 or just one-and-done. This thing really needs to blow up, needs more talent to go along with some real toughness, not the barking and little back-and-forth every now and again. Give me some Sprewell, KG, Kobe, Maxwell, Rodman, Malone. Actually Olajuwon could probably still play. Hell, bring back MJ!
Even at 49, if his defense was a little tighter an NBA team today could give him play. But I get it, at 49 that's hard to keep up.
