I was listening to "We Will Rock You" on the drive home from work yesterday, and it got me to think about some of the great songs with no drums in them. I'm having a hard time thinking of them, though. I know a couple of Led Zeppelin songs didn't have drums. "Glycerine" by Bush is a favorite of mine, and I think "Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins doesn't have any drums on it, but it's been a while since I've heard of it. STP also did a kick-ass version of "Plush" with only an acoustic guitar on Headbanger's Ball...

What are some of your favorites?

I know this doesn't really qualify as a classic or a great song or even as the original version....but I really like the acoustic version of "Times Like These" by the Foo Fighters.

As corny as it sounds, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin was a huge hit back in the day and all of the instrumentation (I believe) was McFerrin's voice only.

This is tough...I'll have to give it more thought...

if I'm not mistaken--both "Rain Song" and "California" by Led Zepplin have no drums. Both of those songs are freaking awesome!!

    I resent the thread... :D

Disarm has timpini and cymbals in it but I guess that's not really the same as drums. They do an "electric" version of that song with drums on Earphoria that rocks. I like it better than the original.

    Creep by Radiohead has drums.

I'd have to say Butterfly by Weezer is one of my favorites.

This isn't one of my favorite songs by any means, but what about "Time of Your Life" by Green Day?
