That in itself is a myth. Larussa started that trend in the 80s. Before then, starters went 7 more frequently and the best relievers were firemen -- not the single inning closer. Plus, as we saw with the Dodgers, the 10 day DL instead of 15 day is going to have a long lasting impact. With a 10 day DL, much more roster manipulation as a player only may miss one start. Also consider the Astros experimented with tandem starting in the minors more so than any other team.
I think the Yankees are going to up the ante for Darvish after Houston got Cole. You know they want to beat the Astros so bad.
If they Yankees want to beat us with Darvish then they didn't watch the WS where we bounced Darvish twice in the series. I'm more worried about the Yankees getting Staten to tell you the truth.
What is a myth? I said for years. You don't consider the 80s to today "years" (it's been 3 decades after all)? The Astros have been experimenting with tandem starters, yet they've never used it at the major league level. Exactly what did I say that hasn't been occurring "for years". Most teams have the defined relievers that I mentioned.
If we have to face Darvish in the playoffs again, I think its short sighted to assume that we will dominate him every time.
Astros openly talked about him tipping pitches even when he was in Arlington. He didn't fix it then, wouldn't just assume he fixed it now.
That is strange. Even stranger, if the pitch tipping rumor is real, why didn't other teams start mashing him? Surely the issue/rumor got around to ML hitters.
IDK...maybe after being put on full blast to the world after having 2 of the worst performances in WS history, maybe he's figured it out. Unless he signs here, I hope he hasn't figured it out.
Really? Because at a certain point the money is really just for showing off. I would rather be in a situation and town I'm happy with for a little less money. How exactly is your financial situation in life gonna be any different? In the words of the great one Spoiler
i read it was a simple and obvious tell of him rotating the ball as he puts it in the glove before throwing a breaking ball and doesnt rotate it if its a fastball. you'd think the dodgers staff would notice that.
