They sure were high on Arny when he was hired and after last year... wonder what the "philosophical differences" were?!?

Perhaps he was opposed to Brandon Lyon being the closer, so he had to go.

Exactly, I wonder what in the world changed? Maybe the organization wanted to keep Lyles in the majors and Arny wanted him to go do down to the minors for a little longer?

I remember that article and was going to search for it - very, very strange timing and move, IMO.

Replaced with Doug Brocail. An interesting hire. I like the move.

I don't agree with this move much. Problem is in the talent, not the coaching. I seriously doubt that Arnsberg ever told Lyon to throw his pitches over the heart of the plate at 86 mph, or if he told Myers to allow 20 HR's by the all-star break.

They should have sent B Mills with him.

Tifwiw: Coming from Justice: They felt Arnsberg changed in ST. He became petulant, childish, any word you want to use. There were some behavior issues off the field. Issue in yesterday's game, they were arguing about how or what pitchers to use. Wade wanted to fire Arnsberg 3 weeks ago. It was attitude issue. Chemistry difference. Dont think it has anything to do pitching wise, although their pitching hasnt been good.

I don't think you can complain that Arnsberg got screwed on talent this year when most of the pitching staff is the same from last season. Last season Brett Myers, Fernando Abad, Brandon Lyon, Nelson Figueroa, and JA Happ were all fantastic pitchers. This year they all are terrible pitchers. I don't think it is just a coincidence when nearly half of the pitching staff from last year becomes this bad in a year. Arsnberg was not doing his job and personally I don't want him to f*** up Lyles and Arod. On the flip side, it seems like Wade has begun digging his own grave in the eyes of the new ownership.

Brocail was the Assistant General Manager? Oh wait, assistant to the general manager.

Maybe Brocail can bring himself into tight games, when he was healthy (rarely) he could get people out

Too much complaining about the crap bullpen Wade gave him?

I think Wade is the problem. He has wasted a good chunk of Drayton's money during his tenure.

Sounds like he got fed up with Wade and the medicore crap that he expected Arni to win with. Sucks because guy is a good coach but just shows you how dysfunctional this mess truly is.

    Doug Brocail????

What's next...are the Stros going to hire Rafael Landestoy as their new hitting coach???

I don't see Brocail as an improvement at all.....
