Anyone else think starting Keuchel Game 5 is risky?

Look I know we need to win just one damn game in NY, but having Verlander and Keuchel on the bump in Houston for Game 6 and potentially Game 7 would seem to be ideal. To me this is pretty risky if the bats don't show up tonight, and Keuchel has a hiccup (law of averages). So if this goes 7, are we starting Morton in Game 7???

    I hate the 2-3-2 format.....

As opposed to possibly losing game 5 and facing elimination twice?

The series could be over before Verlander gets to pitch, so no it would be stupid to not start him game 5.

And Morton didn't pitch poorly FWIW, he had the most BS bad statline I've ever seen

Was wondering if maybe Hinch would pull a wild card and go Peacock game 7 with McHugh or Morton as tandem if needed. Whatever the case if it goes 7 we are in trouble with CC on the mound and our struggles against lefties.

Hinch will go with McCullers in game 7, if it comes to that.

So then if we lose today, and Keuchel still has a hiccup in game 6, you've lost the series without even using Verlander twice? You run your best pitchers out there and give yourselves the best chance to win. If you lose, you lose. But risking a game 5 so you have a better chance in a game 7 that might not even happen is stupid.

No. We need to stop the bleeding. Go with Keuchel today and if things don't work out today or game 6 be prepared to bring back Keuchel in relief in game 7 on three days rest.

More important than pitching we need a lot more hitting. The Stros haven't hit a homerun in Yankee stadium this series and this is a hitters park. Let's get 6 runs minimum!

The Astros bats have to wake up regardless.

I would be surprised by that with it being on 3 days rest. I know he only threw 80 pitches but McCullers is far from a workhorse that would be easy to trust in that situation.

Game 5 is pivotal. Keuchel is our best available pitcher...he needs to pitch today for as long as he effectively can.

Keuchel goes and stops the bleeding. Stupid not to.

Also, Luhnow needs to find out whos controlling that jet stream to right center field and have them turn it on for us as well. Thats what needs to happen.

DK's going on regular rest and this is a must-win IMO. Why would you not start him?

Still trying to figure out what this has to do with anything?

I did like knowing that after the Astros won the first 2 games... it was a guarantee that they would not lose this series in NY.

The Yankees are going to either have to a.) beat Verlander or Keuchel and b.) win a game at MMP to win this series.

2-3-2 in baseball makes more sense... they're already used to playing 3 game series in consecutive days, and the logistics of playing 1-1-1 games (for games 5-7), with travel days mixed in, is too complex.

If there's a game 7, it will be a Morton/McCullers/McHugh/Peacock (if he doesn't go today) extravaganza.

Literally everyone will be available. I wouldn't be shocked if even Dallas or Verlander are an option for an out if needed in the 9th.

We also want to be able to get Verlander/Dallas K going twice in the WS if we get there.

I also like our chances better with Morton/Lance/Peacock/McHugh at home than pitching game 5 on the road.
