Andre is undoubtedly deserving of this honor. I'm hoping that his induction will also include his number being retired.

Thought I'd start this read to start an interesting discussion about other players we think are deserving of one day being inducted into the ring of honor.

I think the only other guy that is guaranteed is JJ (obviously). I also think you can make a case for (and against) Foster and Cushing.

Interested to hear everybody's thoughts on who should be inducted. As a qualifier, let's say they have to have at least 5 years in the league and played at least 5 years with the team.

Duane Brown for sure. This will be his 10th season, and he's been a borderline pro bowler for most of them.

Wouldn't be opposed to Arian. Cushing has been too up and down.

I'd agree with Cushing being up and down. Do you think there's value though to the fact that he's been the anchor/leader of our defense for nearly a decade? Not saying he's been the best defensive player, but for so long he's been the emotional leader for that unit.

JJ, Andre, and Duane Brown are it for me so far. Hopkins might be one day.

Arian, while great, only played ~4 full seasons (two of those were 13 games), the rest of the time he was out for nearly half the season or more.

Cushing and JJo have been good but you have to limit who you let in to these things unless you want it to be meaningless IMO.

Not gonna lie, him ditching us for the Colts changed my view on him.

Exactly. The ring of honor will mean the most years from now if it consists of mostly HOFers/borderline HOFers/guys who made several (5+) pro bowls.

To me the only people that have earned their spot in the ring of honor are Andre Johnson, JJ Watt, Brian Cushing, and MAYBE Duane Brown. The first 3 are locks though.

I start with the players that were drafted by the Texans and stayed with the team for many years. Cushing and Duane. Arian also put the team on the map but he is on the fence with me because of his short tenure.

You should feel a little better because the team ditched him first. He just made it official

How so?.. i thought Bob offered him a supporting role behind Nuk and he decided he wanted out then went to the Colts.

That's exactly what happened. The team informed him that his role would be less than it was in previous seasons and more in line with what his role ended up being with the other 2 teams he played for and it made him butt hurt so he left....to take on that role with non-playoff teams.

In runningback years that's like ten. Arian Foster has the best season a Texan's ever had so far. In his prime he was the most feared and impactful Texans player in history (because we've never had a franchise level QB). And most importantly, he's our greatest playoff performer ever. No one else elevated their game the way he did in the playoffs. The best team the Texans ever had (the one that missed out on a Super Bowl because Schaub got hurt) he was the best player. And he almost singlehandedly carried us over the eventual champion Ravens.

Say what you will about his off the field stuff, but his game tape speaks for itself. Arian belongs.

Never heard of the ring of honor, I'm sure it's one big pee-pee game (I'm guessing y'alls boy John McClain is probably in it), but whatever it is, only Andre should be in it, therefore it should not have existed prior to this.

Watt should be included when he retires.

    That's it.

Didn't include him because I assumed we didn't even need to vote on him to see if everyone thought he is deserving. Thought about putting him on it, but the whole premise was pretty much "'Dre and JJ are the two guarantees, who else?"

It didn't exist before 'Dre was announced as the inaugural member yesterday.
