He is 0-13. His worst stretch last year was 0-10. He is doomed. OK, that out of the way. While scrolling through last years data, I saw 5 games in a row where he got 3 hits in each. That looked like fun. Now thats the Altuve I want to see.
DL a reliever for hurt pride and call up Kemp or Tucker to create some depth when Springer is out. We really don't need 7, let alone 8 relievers with this rotation.
At the 38 game mark last season Altuve was slashing .286/.357/.436. At the 42 game mark this season Altuve is slashing .306/.360/.406. If one more fly ball flew out of the park this season, his slg% would be .429. He's still driving the balI a lot, he's just missing a few. I would be shocked if he doesn't end up with 15-20 HR by year's end.
Becuase I don't believe the 4 extra games makes this season any worse than last season in a significant way. He had a mediocre first quarter last season, then went on a rampage. It could very easily happen again this season. Maybe he doesn't hit 400 over the next 82 games like last season, but his slow start isn't any real cause for concern. With his talents his OPS could be up over .900 by the end of the Angels series.
Regardless, it is odd that you used two different points in the season to compare his numbers when it is so easy to say "after 42 games last year...".
Seriously, if there is any player on the roster where I am unconcerned about a minor lapse at the bat, its Altuve. If he goes an entire month batting <.250, then ill take notice.
