I'm not going to leave this site, but I'm truly finding it more and more annoying to come on here. The constant pop-up ad that comes at the bottom of the screen EVERY time you click a new page, along with the constant ad pop-up that pops up after every three posts as you try to read. This is bad. I go to a lot of different sites, and this is bad, even by comparison. I paid the $35 for the year, and that seemed fair. But... I've been on this site since '98. It keeps getting worse. $75/yr for no ads? That's damn close to Netflix fees. I don't see that value here. Bottom line: I've no problem with ads or with anyone making money. But whoever is doing the ads on this site is doing a REALLY bad job at keeping eyes on the page. I truly get angry every time I try to go through a thread these days. And, as much as I hate to say it, folks will move to other venues when stuff like this occurs.
Not to mention that some of the ads have had malware in the past or that the forum doesn't even run on https.
Just run Spybot Search and Destroy and send an IRC PM to a mod who can ping a server in Taiwan to DCC you a copy of Norton Antivirus 96. You may have to fax them a copy of your Knight Rider bed sheets.
It gets really annoying when browsing on google chrome on mobile randomly opens up the google play store to install one of those scam apps.
The ads don't bother me much except for Chrome on my phone. It will often hijack my browser with an audio message saying that there "something wrong" with my phone and send me to a BS app in the play store. It only happens on this site.
This site is almost unbearable on mobile but desktop is just fine. Each time I try on mobile it either redirects me to the app store or I get redirected to another website and a pop up asks me to accept a prize or something.
If on mobile, try the Firefox Focus browser. That works for me. Zero issues. The downside: tweets posted to the forum are not visible when using this browser, and neither are half of the images that people post.
