any chance DM could clear space for a 3rd PG? Seems that Gal Mekel is an interesting real playmaker PG..and indy was supposed to sign him but not happening
I'm more concerned about our backup big situation. Canaan and Terry have played fairly well. DMo, Black, and Dorsey....not so much.
We need a big, (Jeff Adrian anyone?) DMO don't have the emotions for the game, what game was it where he kept allowing other teams to take the ball from him on a rebound? Even Bill/Bull noticed how DMO isn't aggressive to hit the boards for a rebound.
We are definitely weak at the 4 / back-up center position. They don't come cheap or easy though, and that's the issue. What about Andrew Bynum once he is healthy?
Terry is our de facto 3rd string PG. There won't be a bunch of minutes for him backing up Harden, so he should be able to play some minutes at both spots. He already plays some minutes next to Harden already. I think our guard rotation is fine as is. Canaan has been a surprise contributor, as his shooting has been on point and he isn't holding the ball. If he can keep it up, I'm happy with him as primary backup. Should an injury happen, we can plug in Daniels as spot shooter. Our backup center position is a much bigger concern. We need a banger and neither Dorsey nor DMo have played well at all.
Mekel is a true point guard with play-making being his biggest strength. Since we only have one good play maker on the team, it might be a good idea to bring another one. Especially if you keep in mind that our starting PG is injury prone. Mekel's PS highlights (vs Pacers): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41eG0Qc8MrQ
If we weren't keeping Ish, we aren't picking up Mekel. Nothing about this team has changed since the first game. The same player and cap constraints are all there.
Sigh. Complain all you want, but roster changes are not coming anytime soon. I find it interesting that fans b**** about things that are obviously not changing. Despite all of your worries, the bigs of Houston are reasonably solid. Of course it all goes to hell if Howard is injured. Houston traded away the perfect Howard back up this off season. The fact of this matter is that no team can afford to be completely solid if they are spending the money to field one of the best starting fives in the NBA.
Maybe we should take a look at their other pg Sloan He put up 31pts 7ast 6 rebounds. Looked good out there and had good ball iq.
