Just finished Texans game tape & 2 quick thoughts.

Rough outing for T Howard – especially at OG. There are some physical limitations that concern me in run game & he may need to be left at OT.

I liked what I saw from 3rd rounder Max Scharping. Good balance, strength & FB IQ

Bill O'Brien "he's had a really good camp" on Matt Kalil. "I think he's had a very consistent camp." #Texans

O’Brien said he is unaware of all the trade speculation surrounding Clowney.

When you suck, consistency is not exactly what you're looking for.

Also I love the 2nd quote, our GM is unaware.

yah I was thinking the same thing. He also said he hasn't seen clowney since last offseason. This is why he cant be a GM

He actually said end of last season. Dislike BoB as much as the next guy but this statement is still probably true even if we had a competent GM.

I think he meant end of the season. And i think his point was the implication was they have no idea what he's thinking since they haven't talked to him at all. Which is crazy for a FA. Maybe when you fired your last GM would have been a good time to pick up the phone and call all your FA type guys?? Just maybe.

Maybe B'ob is playing it coy with words. He technically hasn't seen Clowney...

my point is that this answer is perfect for a head coach, but I would expect a GM to say we are in touch with either him or his representation. As a GM he would have done that atleast once

I listened to the quote and the question was referring to seeing Clowney on the field and at practice. I think that is how he answered it, and he followed up with "when(not if) he gets here, we will see what we got".

That's okay. But what I really would like to hear is "we want Clowney here" "this team needs him" "he is one of the best defenders in the league" "he is a pivotal piece of this team" "we are not trying to trade him". Even if it is just coach speak and they are trying to trade him, it makes more sense to do that. We just saw Kitchens do that with Duke and Allen with Trent. Control the narrative and take as much leverage as you can back.

Um...Clowney is not under contract. He would not be in the building. A GM wouldn’t see him either and only talk with his agent.

lol. U lose your leverage by doing that. God, some of you are just clueless.

Why? There no reason to say anything. Clowney has a choice: sign the tender or don’t. Texans can’t do anything else but trade him (which they can’t unless he agrees and signs the tender and AGREE to extension with the other team). Clowney doesn’t want to be traded. He wants a contract with the Texans. That can’t happen til the offseason.

Just because fans want information is irrelevant.

How exactly? Like @Mr.Scarface posted, Clowney only has 2 options, sign the tender or sit out games and forfeit game checks.
