The Rams are going to the Super Bowl two years after they cut bait with Jeff Fisher. I hope the Texans brass are paying attention.

I remain hopeful this is a by-product of personnel issues and not a reflection on BO'B... I still have faith BO'B from 2014 is going to walk through that door and start turning this team on its ear with a healthy Fuller & Coutee, OL and specialists reinforcements to play with............

    (begins sobbing uncontrollably......)

frustrating watching other teams have routes where the receiver has open real estate within 5 yards and they're just playing pitch and catch. And moving the pocket with bootlegs and rollouts had been super effective throughout the season the little times we used it.

It's strange but almost feels like BoB had more confidence (in terms of play calling) in Fitzpatrick and Hoyer than he does with Watson. Last season was somewhat understandable as a rookie although it was pretty clear the ball needed to be in his hands during key plays. But 3rd and 10+ now is almost an automatic WR screen just to get some yardage back. End of half with timeouts left? Let's just run the ball and get out of there.

Think it was the first Colts game when we got the ball back with almost a minute left to get into FG range. First call is a run play for Blue killing 20 seconds off the clock.

To be fair, MOST coaches call safer plays on 3rd-and-long, assuming game situation and field position, etc. And I thought BO'B got better at game management as the year wore on. I'd have to look it up - but I recall a late first half drive (or maybe more) that netted points.

For sure. And will admit that the WR screen was mildly successful but thought he could mix it up with a QB draw/RB screen every now and then. But like you said, didn't seem like play calling or the offensive scheme in general was a big issue his first 2 seasons, maybe we're expecting more with Watson at the helm.

The offense is the one that needs fixing

Both need fixing. The defense was just as responsible for us getting manhandled by the colts as the offense was. It also cost the Texans a 1st round bye because it couldn't stop the Eagles and Nick foles in week 16.

You cant just look at one game. The defense was top 10 all season. We need an offense that can find and take advantage of a defense weakness as other OCs did to the Texans D.

Everytime I think about the Superbowl and the Patriots... it increasingly comes down to coaching and how HUGE A GULF there is coaching wise between Bill B. and Billy O.

Don't get me wrong... Tom Brady helps... but if I had to swing 60/40 one way, I swing 60 toward Bellicheck. Remember Brady wasn't really anything other than a VERY SMART and SOLID game manager for his first years. He grew into an otherwise great QB. But more importantly, just look at their 2 playoff games so far. The other teams were just completely befuddled from the jump. The Patriots dominated the ball and time of possession. They always make good challenge calls. They understand time and situation. They've won with great offense. They've won with great defense. They've made adjustments at half. Etc, etc..

    These are all coaching issues.

And Billy O. can have a Texans team stacked with much better talent, and get an OC that is semi-competent, and we will still be at a severe disadvantage coaching wise against the Patriots.

You can say that for everybody in the league not just O’Brien.

Watch what Bill B. Does to the golden child McVay.
