I think they'll eventually trade their package to other teams, like Washington for Beal, Cleveland for Love or someone else...maybe Towns if for some reason he becomes available, the Lakers just can't wait any longer, they'll overpay for someone eventually. Wouldn't even be shocked to see them go after Horford and get torched by Ainge if he decides to rebuild around the young guys if Irving bolts.

I think Beal makes a lot of sense or some other low-tier all-star player.

If they strike out on Kawhi and other big name FAs they are going to make a desperate move.

Windhorst/Stein Report Zion Williamson Could Theoretically Return To Duke

Both Brian Windhorst of ESPN and Marc Stein of the New York Times have reported that there have been conversations in NBA circles that Zion Williamson could theoretically return to Duke for his sophomore season now that the New Orleans Pelicans have won the 2019 draft lottery.

Williamson has yet to sign with an agent and he would have until 10 days before the draft to return to school.

Speaking on Wednesday's episode of The Jump, Windhorst added that by all accounts Williamson doesn't seem like the type of player who would attempt to force his way to another team, but that it is something at least being speculated about within the NBA community.

Media acts like NY is a better destination than NO in regards to winning.. " He can return to Duke".... This is why the NY media makes me sick!... They think everything starts and ends with that seispool they call " The Mecca"... **** them and their tombs...

Sounds like something ESPN is reminding him he could do more than something that's coming from him.

I mean he could do that but maybe next year Cleveland has the #1 pick instead?

I don't think New Orleans is a bad spot at all, they certainly have the assets to get two young stars and have them grow together on rookie contracts and that's huge when building a future contender.

He’d be the biggest b**** to do that just because he wants to go to NY thinking he’d be with KD and Kyrie

Also sounds like the media is trying to put that in his head

They have to create some type of buzz until the Finals since the WCFs happened already.

I guess the NBA needs some Drama for 10 days, Playoffs are too boring for them.

    Ahhh,

It's tough to tell with either what some NBA mgmt thinks, and also with some of the ideas that get thrown around in these forums.

Cp3 for 4 would be a total win for rockets. U get Garland and instantly younger and clear major cap for Jimmy butler

Aren't the Rockets so far over the cap that getting rid of CP3 entirely wouldn't matter?

Hmmm, not as bad as I thought it was.

And wow, look at most of those teams far more over the cap than the Rockets....WTF?

NY or LA aren't better as far as winning goes. But they are a lot better in terms of endorsement $$$$.

If Zion withdraws from the draft and next year gets drafted to a big market team, he could easily recoup the loss of staying one more year at Duke.

Zion has yet to play a single minute in the nba and this guy has been the talk for years. he doesn't need some big market team to get money. He's a consensus #1 pick whose hype hasn't been this high since probably Lebron. People are going to be lining up and coming to him trying to persuade them to make deals, not the other way around.

him withdrawing from the draft is nothing but nonsense. if any one person or professional in his circle advised him to do that based on everything that's guaranteed and in front of him right now, they deserve to be slapped or fired
