Awesome! Looking forward to seeing how quickly he adjusts. Many expected this wouldn't happen until the draft, nice to see him up now. He totally earned it. Any corresponding moves? Just wonderin'.

Emmanuel Valdez got promoted to Fayetteville, which seems aggressive. They must really like him.

Christian Javier was also promoted to Corpus, and Nivaldo Rodriguez was promoted to Fayetteville as well. What I was wondering was, if moves from Corpus to Round Rock are coming soon. And, if, in turn, someone from RR is coming to HOU. :)

I'm sure that him slashing .275/.374/.442 as the youngest regular in the Quad Cities lineup played a part in the move.

Also, Nivaldo Rodriguez was promoted to Fayetteville. In six starts, Rodriguez went 3-1 with a 1.16 ERA. In 31 innings, Nivaldo allowed six runs (4 ER) on 23 hits (four HR), walked four, and struck out 39.

Taking Nivaldo Rodriguez's spot in Quad Cities is Jose Alberto Rivera.

Rivera, 22, is another pitcher who signed late; he was signed by the Astros in October 2016 and made his debut at age 20 in 2017. Last year, he split time between the GCL and Tri-City, going 2-4 with a 3.49 ERA in 14 appearances (5 starts).

Rivera pitched 49 innings and allowed 22 runs (19 earned) on 39 hits (6 HR allowed, walked 14, hit four batters, and struck out 53. He had a WHIP of 1.08 and opponents hit .212 against him.

Jose Urquidy's promotion has a corresponding move:

As some of you are clearly much more into watching the minor leaguers develop than I am, I want to see if anyone could help me by giving your thoughts/opinions on Seth Beer. I didn't watch him in college and can't find much on him other than Fangraphs has his future value at only 40. Has anyone watched him play and have any thoughts on him?

FYI not worried about his fielding so just wanting to know what his upside is with the bat. Is he going to be a platoon type guy?

He should be better than Tyler White and A.J. Reed..... then again, he may not be.

Well White was a 33rd round pick so I’d imagine so.

Nivaldo Rodriguez in his Carolina League debut: 4 IP, 2 H, 4 BB, 6 K

Jose Hernandez-Urquidy is also making his AAA debut for Round Rock; he's allowed a hit and struck out two over two scoreless innings so far.

There’s no excuse he’s still in AAA, I don’t care if they have to cut White or Kemp.

Jeremy Peña just hit his third homer for Quad Cities.

Looks like he's starting to figure things out at the plate...

Yep; he’s a single short of the cycle. Very encouraging to see from him. Sure wish McKenna and Salazar were healthy.

Lots of guys looking like they are finding a groove in QC: Dennis, Costes, Pena, Wielansky. Also really stoked about what Jake Meyers is doing in High A.

This Yordan Alvarez **** is crazy...

There is a reason other than getting rid of White....they wait another week or so, they get an additional year of control. They don’t need him right now. They can afford to wait.

Enoli Paredes tagged in for Nivaldo and he also threw four scoreless, allowing two hits, walking two, and striking out six.

Hernandez-Urquidy allowed three runs (all on a pair of homers) on five hits and struck out eight in five innings.

Cristian Javier allowed four runs on four hits, one of which was a two-run homer, in two innings in his Texas League debut. He also walked four.

Alvarez tops off his night with a two-run double, giving him 6 RBI.

That figure doesn't lead the system tonight... because Marty Costes drove in 7 in Quad Cities' 21-1 win in Peoria. He had an RBI single, a bases-clearing double, and a three-run home run.

How do they get another year of control by waiting another week or so? Super Two is not about control (that was accomplished a month ago), it is about an 4 years of arbitration versus 3.
