The Quad Cities offense has also been pretty bad.

On the bright side, Robinson has also thrown out 60% of would-be base stealers.

César Salazar went 3-4 with an RBI double and a two-run single as Tri-City whacked Staten Island 10-1 in the first game of their doubleheader.

The main difference between last year (when he put himself on the map) and this year is his BABIP and iso. His k/bb numbers are pretty close. I never thought much of Robinson as a prospect, but people who liked him last year should still like him.

Seth Beer just homered for Quad Cities. It's a solo shot that gives him 3 with Quad Cities and 7 on the season.

He also has a 9-game hitting streak.

After AJ Reed, I won't really get excited about Seth Beer's production until he reaches the majors. The Astros have been burned by polished mostly bat-only college prospects before.

AJ Reed hasn’t completely busted yet. He’s only had 150 mlb pa, with his numbers at least partly suppressed by a .215 BABIP; his leash has shortened and his prospect stock is certainly low, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he ended up being a good major league hitter.

Fair enough. Reed certainly hasn't gotten an extended look yet. I'm more continually surprised at the FO's pattern of investing high picks in mostly-bat only guys. It puts so much pressure on their bat and you don't really know what you're getting until they hit the show.

It's not impossible, but it is highly improbable that Reed becomes an average major league hitter much less good 1B/DH.

Hasn't played in three weeks now...something tells me he may not be in the GCL and could be kidnapped and held hostage somewhere

I figured Perez would be more likely to sneak on than Martin. Good to see Martin getting that shine though, just wish his K rate at CC was higher.

Been kind of a lost year for Bukauskas, but I would probably put him right there with Martin,C Perez, Beer and Nova in the 2nd tier.

BA's hotsheet had Thornton listed for his quality performance last night, saying he could be a back-end starter for the team as early as next year.

They also spotlighted Sandoval as a rising prospect, saying his fastball is 88-94 with a plus change, and both breaking balls flashing above average. I think that's the first time I've seen someone say his change-up is better than his curve.

Martin has been on their top 100 for a couple months now, so it's not really a surprise they've kept him on it. I'd personally probably have James, Solis, and possibly Alcala and Arauz in that 2nd tier as well.

Jayson Schroeder walked one and struck out three over two scoreless innings in his first pro start in the GCL.
