i think for the coaching, the eras matter. i'm not so sure great coaches from the distant past will be as successful with today's rules and type of players. just me thinking loudly, but for example, red auerbach might have difficulty adjusting to the 3-heavy offense of today.

That is a conundrum, just because an old coach has 5 or 9 championships, does not mean he would be as good as he was in this era.

True to a degree, but he paved the way for the modern game and could surely adjust on the fly. Plus I don't think you can find a better coach to manage all these star players and their egos.

true on managing stars and egos. it's a 50/50 on adjusting to today's rules. they'll rip their hair off from all the touch fouls and flopping going on.

plus for reaally old coaches, how would they adjust to players being able to dribble with both hands? :D
    they're amphibious!

Feel sorry for him but gotta move on.

Tex Winter was the father of the Triangle but Phil Jackson became the better coach BTW.

I'll pick in a second, but how exactly do we judge players from different eras anyhow? Do we assume they all have the same training/nutrition/etc.? If you just magically dropped some players into modern NBA they would get exposed based on conditioning/strength/athleticism, but if they grew up with same advantages they wouldn't have trouble

Rebounding usually translates, skills too ....... We did our best not to include players from the 50s or 60s too much, we ll be fine IMO.
