That makes it sound as if he's making a political statement, but it's just financial. He can only leave if Barcelona FC doesn't stay in the Spanish league or join the French, English, or German league.

One problem is the competition level drops once they are out of La Liga.

I don't know about that. Either way, though, adding a Barcelona to any of those three leagues certainly increases their level of competition and La Liga losing Barca?

I dun think it works that way. It was reported it was more likely that they form a Catalan League with FC Girona, Espanyol Barca and others.

If that's the case, imagine Messi on the Dynamos in Dynamo orange.

    Ah come on, man.

It's actually good for the Soccer World if there are more competitive countries and continents than just Center of Attention Europe.

I was waiting for the US who did not show that much passion for the sports, and South Americans who lacked major money to build a Super friends league.

I bet the South Americans and Mexicans would do the same, if they had enough backing from their government or enough money to attract stars.

Mexicans for instance tried with French signings Gignac and Menez now.

    Who would not?

But I think there is a plan in the back drop, one that involves young local players can start learning from players like Auba.

Nothing wrong with China doing this, but a 28yr old guy playing for Dortmund shouldn't do this.
No wonder no European club was willing to sign him, the guy is all about money, a total diva, too late to practice every week etc
PS: And bet he'll want to leave China in one year.

If that happens, nobody will respect him for sure.

    So yeah, it just happens.

As much as I think he is a diva, that guy stayed in Dortmund for years and he is in the Top 3 fastest players alive.

Counting in hobbling Gareth Bale. You have to go for him if you got the chance.

There is no loyalty among African and South American players.

One fact that is surely stinging for Roger Schmidt. The detail that Auba phoned him personally to reject him and his offer.

    From Aubameyang to Cedric Bakambu.

Personally I think they should sign a Central midfielder like Nainggolan.

How does the January transfer window typically look like in a World Cup year?

Did Barcelona choose to complete Coutinho's transfer now as opposed to after the World Cup because they feared Coutinho would have a great tournament and thus drive up his price? They have the league locked up and he can't play in the Champions League. What gives?

Do the big spending teams typically wait until after the World Cup? Real Madrid got James and Navas after their work in 2014's World Cup.

The most likely theory is Coutinho forced the move fearing FCB would lose interest in the summer. They were flirting with Aurtur from Gremio and as is the case during a WC year someone could have a break out tourney like James did in 2014. On FCB side, the signing allows them to rest Iniesta during certain La Liga matches & Copa del Rey tourney. Allowing for a fresh and rested Iniesta during the Champions.

I only know that James Rodriguez was not a superstar before the WC. And Navas as good as he was, wasn't on the radar of top clubs.

Coutinho has proven himself at least to be a good performer for Liverpool a top 15 club in the world.

That puts the pressure on Real though, to sign big players. Well, Hazard said he wanted to be there.
