What did you expect? I saw that coming, because Köln and Hertha are both nowhere near international material and just made it to the ranks with counters and parking the bus. Zero playing culture, just going for 0-0 or that one sneak attack, trying to destroy the game as good as possible no matter what. Might work in the Bundesliga when they know the opponents and their strengths, but international level is different, even though they should beat Luhansk or Baryssau quality wise. If you install that kind of strategy it only takes you so far. Shame for our Bundesliga, but no surprise at all. Saddest thing is, there are no better teams around right now. Don't think Gladbach, Schalke or Leverkusen would do any better.

Real apparently reached an agreement for Palmeiras gem Alan, 17yr old attacking midfielder and currently playing for their U17 squad.

If anyone wants to see him and some other talents, he's currently playing in the U17 World Cup and will face Germany tomorrow. Should be a great match, great prospects on both sides.

Btw, it sucks to see another Brazilian talent move to one of the Spanish giants. Real now made moves for Alan and Vinicius, while Barca grabbed Vitinho and possibly Lincoln.
All of these guys are from Palmeiras and Flamengo, their youth divisions are maybe at the top of the world to me when it comes to current world-class youngsters.

Bayern has been known to scout Palmeiras intensely for quite some time now and have missed out on Jesus and Vitinho (both times made buy offers and were rejected, in case of Jesus we only missed out because Pep made a last minute phone call and convinced him to join City), really sucks to see us miss out on all those talents. Annoying to have us signing a load of central midfielders when there are so many talented wingers and playmakers available, we should do a more aggressive approach.

Yet the German National team rules the Brazilian counterpart. The vast majority of potential does not make it a top national side.

Yep, you have to find the right mix between talent and team spirit.
The new Brazilian generation seems insane though, reminds me of the days when Brazil had Kaka, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Pato, prime Alves, Adriano etc at the same time. They should be really dangerous in 4-12 years.

The WCs where they actually won the Cup they had Prime Ronaldo, young Ronaldinho, Rivaldo against Ballack, Kahn.

When I first watched an entire WC 1994 in the US - Bebeto, Romario, Cafu, Dunga, Branco, Leonardo and very young Ronaldo.

1998 was great too but let Zidane and Co took it and Ronaldo under a mysterious illness.

A good, hands on approach instead of total Joga Bonito was key.

Management, self control, a good fixture and run. A good mixture of Offense and Defensive geniuses.

Younger Scolari, Mario Zagallo, Alberto Parreira were the coaches.

Ronaldinho and Kaka were not physically talented enough or robust.

Romario and Ronaldo were semi tanks or tanks. Skills and sheer strength.

Don't forget about Cafu and Rivaldo (edit: ahh you mentioned him). Rivaldo was my favourite player back in the day, although a bit dirty with his antics and dives.

That 2002 WC final was brutal, Kahn's worst performance ever.

Of course as a Barca sympathizer I won't but he flopped that tournament.

I loled very hard but still rooted for him.

Very disappointed in the likes of Adriano, what a wasted talent.

1:1 with 15min to go, tie at the end of regular time would directly lead to a penalty shooutout.

Oh yeah. That guy is legit, just could not get used to living in cold, rainy Britain. Some other Brazilians could doe.

    Oh wait.

I was also confused at the start of this tournament, but it's a different Paulinho from Vasco da Gama.
Intense game, hope we can score somehow.

Brazil with the 2:1 victory, although we should've been awarded with a penalty in the 95th. :(
