so how does the strength of schedule thing work?!

Kinda crazy that we have the 2nd most national TV games behind GSW. The Chris Paul (and soon to be Melo) effect.

I'm not surprised that the one thing the league set out to do (limit national spots from teams on 2nd night of back-2-back) they have us playing Warriors on national tv on the 2nd night of a back to back...

Warriors also on a back-to-back in January, odd nonetheless.

Committing to a season that starts in mid-October, I don't think any teams can complain about their schedules relative to years prior. No more back-to-backs ending in Denver!

The NBA's gonna get to see what happens when they run up even more against the NFL. I think they'll succeed. Certainly internationally they will.

So on opening day of the regular season, the NBA chooses the Cavs, Celtics, Warriors and Rox. They're obviously shooting for the two best teams in each conference. Do they think we'll be better than the Spurs this year, or just that more people will tune in to see our new big 3?

Since we have the second most nationally televised games, I have to think the league considers us an elite team.

    2nd most behind GSW

    3rd CLE
    4th OKC
    7th SA
    Last ORL

Rockets perform decent nationally so worry.

This site is really cool for seeing how a team's schedule compares with others in terms of B2B, rest advantage/disadvantage, etc. at any point during a season. The Rockets schedule are not bad.

I would rather play more high level competion during the regular season so the team can gauge and improve, and being more prepared for playoffs.

What I don't like is playing B2B against the best teams because it gives advantages to the opposing team and can't gauge accurately skills.

I like this. It's a good, balanced schedule with very few "schedule losses".

I secretly even kinda love the Utah-Denver road back to back. Take two crappy road games near one another and staple them together into one mega-crap doubleheader and then you're done with them for the year. (The other Utah road game is on a 4-day rest and there is no second Denver road game).

There's a lot of other travel-optimized sequences, like Boston to DC and Detroit to Chicago when in the past they'd be happy to give us Boston to Phoenix to DC.

Also, ending the season with a 5 game homestand, then @ San Antonio, then a 3 game homestand, then a 2 game Cali trip will be pretty sweet.

Random. Why would I be? I grew up a Rockets fan.

Keep up the salt, it's rather entertaining.
