Damn. Texas Tech can probably offer double what he is making now.

Best of luck to him. It has been a pleasure having him here.

Apparently UH pays its assistants 300K more than Tech.

Yeah, I was surprised to see that too.

I like that you took the time to search through 1000 tweets to find this. That took initiative. Gibbs wants to stay and Herman wants him to stay, but there is some other stuff going on behind the scenes. He may still end up at UH, but as I mentioned yesterday, I believe it is more likely he ends up elsewhere. He told me yesterday he has yet to agree to anything with anyone though he has multiple offers. I know 1 is from UH and 1 is from Tech and there is a 3rd which I can't confirm the employer. I want to hold onto Gibbs. Guy has been great.

Heh. I figured a guy with 70K tweets would know how easy it is to search for stuff on that site.

Anyway, can you blame me for hoping your source is wrong? :)

I will be fine with Gibbs taking a better offer, but I would not be fine with Herman running him off. Last thing a rookie HC needs to do is shun one of the most skilled and successful assistants this program has ever seen.

All good man. Believe me I want Gibbs back in the worst way. I think he is a tremendous coach.

I thought we were talking about Hicks. Anyway, misunderstandings are part of this medium. Any top notch recruits for UH?

On a side note, UH fans should try to convince Renu Khator or Tom Herman over Twitter to keep David Gibbs as the DC.

Just watched the 4th quarter, that was serious fun.

Look forward to UH doing good things in the future.

Gibbs is officially gone. (Even though he was gone 2 weeks ago) Expect Chad Glasgow from TCU to be the new DC. He has 1 year of DC experience at Tech. His defense was 117th in the country that year.

I totally understand firing an entire staff and starting from scratch, but the defensive coaching staff IMO is going to take a step backward.
