Some one in the comment section of the Houston Chronicle claims that Travis Bush the OC has been offered the job. OMG! His offense is what got Levine fired. That would be ridiculous.
Doubtful. Hindsight is 20/20. People can hate on the admin for hiring Levine, but it was the right thing to do at the time. The team lost a heartbreaking game, head coach walked out the door, and assistant coaches scrambled to find new jobs. 300 pound guys were in tears. Only one man stood up and said a new job could wait until after the bowl game...that man was Anthony Levine.
next 4 years? he's a sophmore and if we are able to keep ben hicks, he will be our qotf. also im on the team tom herman train!
That's ridiculous. Briles left and took a good chunk of staff before a bowl game too and they ended up with Kevin Sumlin. Go sell crazy elsewhere. Tony was completely unqualified and Mack is in way over his head as an AD.
Indeed. This time around, things will be different. Houston is seen as a place where you can maintain a legacy, not a place that needs fixing. The suitors list is quite refreshing compared to years past.
You probably won't do it because you didn't do it last year (even though you should have...), but somebody should make a call to Willie Fritz. Took Sam Houston State to the playoffs 3 straight years including 2 NC appearances. Then in his first year at Georgia Southern (and their 1st year in the Sunbelt, 2nd year in FBS), he goes 9-3 and 8-0 in conference. He's won everywhere he's been and he still has lots of Texas recruiting connections. Bring him in and you win your conference next year. Probably for the next 3 years, actually.
He's not married to it. Fritz has created his success over the past 5 years by creating offenses around the players he has. He did this at SHSU and it was clearly successful. He combined the triple option with a spread at GSU and, again, it worked. He's not afraid to throw it. SHSU used the run to set up many deep throws. Plus, would you really care about the style if they're winning? Fritz just wins (with the exception of playing against NDSU).
Tom Hermann, offensive coordinator for Ohio State, is the most likely candidate to be hired. He has recruiting connections in Texas based on his tenures at Texas State and Rice, he's regarded as a quarterback whisperer, he's worked under one of the best head coaches in college football, and he could bring the excitement back to UH's offense.
