http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...YF?slug=aw-odomheat072509&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Could well be a ploy to put some more pressure on LA. Lakers in big trouble if Odom decides he wants to be in Heat. If Odom leaves, I am officially on the Spurs for WC championship bandwagon.
I think he will ultimately go to the Lakers, seeing as they have such an advantage in what they can offer (provided they are willing). This is likely no more than Odom and his brass expanding their leverage to compete with Kupchack and Co. although I PRAY the Heat can play the immature politics the Lakers are wrapped up in into enough of a selling point to convince Lamar he needs out of LA. Although, on the other hand, it might be nice to see the Lakers wrap up tons of time and more cash in declining assets like Ron and Lamar. Would cut their reign significantly shorter...
Give your pension an extra beating for me while you are at it. I would love to see the Lakers not repeat. I think I'll hop on the Spurs winning the WC bandwagon too.

if odom leaves, the lakers repeat chances are gone.... they would lose all of their versatility and athleticism, which took a huge blow when they lost ariza...Ron Ron does not!! provide the versatility & athleticism that they lost in ariza and possibly Odom....
What happened to the 4 year $40 mill deal that Odom and Buss supposedly negotiated after Odom contacted Buss and met with him privately?
Can somebody clarify a point for me? Given the Lakers own LO's bird rights, can't they just match any contract the he signs?
Owning someone's bird rights only allows you to exceed the salary cap to retain that player, which the rest of the league can't do. Odom is an unrestricted free agent, meaning the Lakers have to beat out the other 28 teams for his services. Restricted free agents(like Moon, Sessions, etc) are the ones where the team can match whatever offer the player signs in free agency that year.
