Well, it's not an agreement with Time Warner, but at least the NFL recognized that this game should be accessible to everyone. Still have to listen to Bryant Gumble's drivel, but at least we get a chance to see history.
I don't get why it's on both CBS and NBC. Doesn't 99% of the country get both channels with rabbit ears?
Because both networks pay boatlaods for the NFL, and its only fair that they both get to share the high ratings for this game.
Figured this would happen at some point, mainly because I could see the NFL wanting to avoid this going down with the "heidi" game as one of the biggest blunders of NFL broadcasting history, esp if the Pats end up winning
CBS is the AFC rights holder - they show all AFC games and AFC @ NFC games (ex. Pats at Giants). NBC is the national primetime rights holder.
