The CCP is just God awful... the USA and Western Europe need to continue to separate any financial relations with China... I have gone there a number of times for business and have seen so many horrendous things .... I told the firm we were not going to be doing any more contract work there.

The majority of people in China don’t even realize how bad it has become.... just horrendous.

    So now scandals.

They do not just beat Muslims but also kids of their own.

I do not think that's news.

Drills in communistic countries have always included some beating, corporeal punishment of sorts.

Olympic medals were partly beaten out of them.

The NBA is just naive to think they can dictate the terms and they are in any sort of control.

The so called academy in Zhejiang seemed to be working so no idea if they would close it too.

    That's a richer province.

Whoa. Very interesting that ESPN is running this. Or maybe it shouldn't be since the NBA is the one that needs China.

So the senator who blasted Silver and ESPN was right?

The Senator basically demanded players to have that on their jerseys .....but most of them do not even know the whole dilemma surrounding it.

Especially if he and his party cover up their own problems dealing with Covid and police issues and magnify situations in countries that they do not have control over.

Fighting for civil rights in their own country probably makes more sense than civil rights in other countries they don't know really know of.

But basically yeah, I agree the NBA should re-evaluate the cooperation.

Surprised their parent company Disney allowed this article too. China is or will soon be the biggest movie market in the world. ESPN itself also has partnerships in China.

When you're being exploited and abused while not being educated enough to have critical thinking skills, you're in a world of hurt.

"In an email to one former coach, a public relations official added: "Please don't mention that you have been advised by the NBA not to respond."

    Major yikes.

I don't mean this to be political, but that's not how capitalism works. It doesn't apply any kind of moral value to an analysis. You take capital and do what you can to generate more capital. That will definitely involve working with arguably the largest, most lucrative market on the planet, making whatever compromises need to be made for the bottom line.

It's ugly though. Interested to see what the allegedly woke NBA is going to do in the next few years.
