Is a president ordering riot police to charge and tackle down peaceful protestors some of whom were PART OF THE CHURCH and FOREIGN PRESS creating an international incident just to walk to said church and hold a Bible upside down for a few seconds and say "This is a Bible." a impeachable offense?

Yes because he's violating civil rights of the people protesting.

But so are many other things he's done, including ordering a hit on Epstein, potentially.

As the saying goes an impeachable offense is whatever a majority in Congress thinks it is.

In this case the President does have the power to clear out a part of DC. DC is under the Federal control and the President as the chief LEO can do this. Also as President if wants to go somewhere the Secrete Service is obligated to provide security. None of that makes it right and I would put it under as yet another abuse of power.

Oh....he could be impeached. It’s that pesky Senate vote that would fail.

Unless it means reaching 67 votes in the Senate it’s not worth getting your hopes up.

Ask yourself what it would even take for 20 GOP senators to turn on Trump. Nothing comes to mind.

Pretty sure Trump could firebomb a children’s hospital, incinerate the Declaration of Independence and have Betty White executed due to boredom, and the Lindsey Graham’s of the world would still defend him.

I would say that action to clear out protestors was intended to restrict the speech of citizens. He knew that was the intended consequence of his odd request to walk from the Rose garden to the church in the middle of a protest.

The basis of lawsuits regarding COVID-19 shutdowns are that it is government restricting freedom of speech (having campaign rallies), right of free assembly, and freedom to practice religion. There is a welfare clause of the Constitution and the fact that we can have those restrictions and curfews now shows that there is plenty of latitude given to restrict those rights.

The solution is to get rid of the monkey that started the outbreak and I hope we can do that come November.

That article actually is stating negative things about Trump and how it is affecting both conservatives and liberals. Not sure why it's in this thread. Maybe it's belongs in the thread you and fchowd had originally?

Im not really referring to the politics. I understand that Congress as it currently stands will never remove the president. I'm referring to whether if this would be considered an impeachable offense to the people who wrote the impeachment clause into the Constitution.
