For a political board a lot y'all don't seem to be paying much attention. Biden isn't just hiding out in in his basement doing nothing. Biden also isn't just taking the black vote for granted. He's already said he would appoint a black woman to the USSC. That is a huge step and I can't recall any major candidate making that sort or promise. He does have a platform that is focused on expanding the ACA, increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour, addressing climate change and rebuilding US alliances.

Congrats on the reps from Baffled, Astrodome, and the general. You even brought BTG out of hiding! Hopefully you’ll win over dachuda in due time.

I won’t speak for all the black people on this board, but this is just based off of my own life experience and what I believe to be the case

black people have historically backed the more establishment candidate...many people I know think Bernie is indeed too radical, and that he won’t be able to implement the things he talks about...I know very few Bernie supporters that aren’t millennials, and these are the people who don’t vote...if the election was done with votes via Twitter, then maybe Sanders would have more of a chance because I see his base talking so much on social media, but we can’t find them at the polls, and I like Sanders and voted for him over Clinton

I think people like Biden and Clinton get overwhelming support from the black community because they have spent years cultivating relationships with black leaders and the older population, the population that is actually out there voting...Sanders doesn’t have those strong ties, and somebody like Pete is an unknown with pretty much zero relationship...Klobuchar has no relationship either

Biden has name recognition, and yes, being Obama’s VP is certainly helping him a lot

the African American community is less likely to take what is seen as a risk with someone like Sanders or unknowns with zero support in the community like Pete and Klobuchar...u can say it backfired in 2016, but Biden is not Hillary...Hillary managed to be just as unpopular and untrustworthy as Trump...she still won the popular vote, but unfortunately, Trump got the electoral college

Do u think the country is ready for a progressive like Bernie? Many I talk to think no, and the ones who think yes, they talk about what they’re going to do, but when it comes time to vote, they are at home. People think Biden can bring in enough of the white vote, and with the backing of the minority population, will be able to beat Trump soundly. Biden does not help himself by questioning people’s blackness, and many people I talked to yesterday were rightfully disappointed in that comment. He needs to watch himself, but like I said yesterday, does that even make Trump’s top 100 bad statements?

trump lies, about everything, all the time. This time to suppress democracy and set up an excuse if he loses in November.

I disagree. Like I said bare minimum. Biden promises nothing and stands for nothing hoping you will only vote on your hatred for Trump. This is a pretty crazy time to have no policies to help the people that need help. The most influential voting block continues to be the people that stay home and don't vote because they feel government is not working for them.

It would be more impressive if he just named his VP and it happened to be a woman of color rather than make an announcement that he's going to do it, leaving himself with limited candidates. It would've appeared more authentic. Although I think the most of the candidates he's considering now are qualified. The fact that he's doing is is historic and I don't want to distract from that.

Now is a GREAT time to either expand the ACA or create something that addresses healthcare, whoever wins. I would think republicans and democrats would now agree that making healthcare available to all during this pandemic was/is not only the right thing to do, and now really needs a permanent solution. We'll see if he repubs will step up the the plate on this issue.

I haven't had a chance to delve into how Joe's little slip up is affecting him with the black vote. Before I look or before someone points me to somewhere to look, I'll a say this: What I heard didn't seem that offensive if you understand what he's trying to say. But I can certainly see how the right is going to try to blow it up, and I expect that's what I'll find.

Bare minimum. Biden promised a black woman VP to pander to black people and now he's out here saying Klobachar is in the running for VP - once again not caring about the black people that dragged him across the finish line. If it wasn't for this "You Aint Black" debacle, you know Klobachar would have been VP. Now he might be forced to do what he promised. Biden brought Stacy Abrams on TV to humiliate her and everything.. Biden saying he wants a black women on the supreme court is just another carrot to dangle. It's what Joe does before he goes back to taking the black vote for granted.

I finally figured out what Joe stands for since no one in this thread can tell me. It's back to the IDEA of normalcy. The ACA was/is flawed health care already gutted by republicans. $15 min wage is bare minimum, Addressing climate change is not a proposal. Rebuilding US alliances okay.. and?

Not sure if you’re aware of this, but a Republican put an African American on the Supreme Court 30 years ago. He’s actually still there, doing a wonderful job. So I’m glad to see the Democrats finally trying to catch up on equality.

Naw. You got it wrong. (one) of the biggest revelations from this primary is just how much black people identify with being democrats. You guys remember "he's not even a democrat" everytime Sanders is mentioned?

If Bernie Sanders didn't call himself a democratic socialist and had the "D" in front of his name, a lot of that radical tag would have been extinguished. None of what he is saying is radical since a lot of what he proposed is what people wished they had now during this pandemic.

I agree that people didn't want a revolution. The mistake Sanders made was actually saying this was a revolution when he wasn't doing revolutionary stuff. Most of the world is already doing what he was fighting to get here in the US.

This is the problem with the democratic party. The base is black people and minorities. The democrats bend over backward to get white people to vote for them when they should be getting the millions of black people that stay home to vote.

Black = 12.7% of the us population.

    Hispanic = another 17.8%

Good luck with limiting yourself like that.

A lot of Biden's support has to do with long time black federal legislators backing him over Bernie and Warren. Someone might attack me as "racist" for saying this, but a lot of those Congressional Black Caucus members are grifters just like the vast majority of federal legislators and them choosing Biden over the more progressive candidates has everything to do with them understanding a endorsement of Bernie potentially loses them future board positions in insurance and pharma companies and campaign donations from those entities. Their support of Biden has more to do with with personal ambitions rather than wanting to actually serve the poor urban black folks. That's the harsh reality that some posters that I mostly agree with refuse to acknowledge.

For some reason a lot of liberal leaning posters here or posters who just hate Trump assume everyone with a (D) in front of them operate in good faith to serve their communities rather than pure self interest. That is a very naive and dangerous way to look at our legislators.

The more voters of color who vote, the better chance Democrats have of winning. That s it. That has always been it. Trying to peal off conservative moderate white people has always been the dumb move.

Also these percentage mean sh-t when you can lose elections with 3 million more votes.

you get a couple more POC's to vote in the south in the general and democrats have electoral dominance until the end of time.
