    I predict his words.

Due to revenues loss, NBA new trend is to get younger player with cheaper contracts. If you sign all market contracts, you will need to pay big luxury tax to compete for Champ. ......

Typical example, keep Ariza, trade for Kelly Oubre, then trade Oubre into One of top 4-6 pick. Ariza has value.

Resign Rivers 10 million, trade him for a bad contract and A first round pick.

I didn’t like how that Morey tidbit sounded. Richard Jefferson must be on to something

    it’s whatever to me

I wouldn’t like it if Tilman fired Morey . But I think he’s gonna cave because it’s hundreds of millions of dollars . If he fires Morey can the rockets go back to being china’s team ? Will the product on the field suffer ? Maybe probably in the future .

but Tilman is gonna go bankrupt otherwise . Corona on top of lost rockets revenue is a game changer for him .

he could have taken the China hit had other things gone normally know what I mean .

I don’t think it’s fair or like the decision but he’s the owner and wants to keep it that way

Trump re: Morey "Is he still working for you?"

    Tilman: "It's a trick question."

Good idea, all of you not wearing masks in a known coronavirus hotspot - makes me want to hit up the Landry's salad bar.

We were just debating the nuances of the PPP program. I know you had taken a loan and then returned it because of the pressure and the label of you being a billionaire and whether that was needed. Did you have a bit of a clash in there in the meeting with Secretary Mnuchin and did he have a different tone towards this issue than the President did?

Not at all. The President understood that they needed to have different categories. Even though I'm a privately held company & sole proprietor that I still have the same issues, that I wanted to put 40,000 employees back to work but I didn't feel right taking it if a lot of other small, independent 1-2 unit restaurateurs didn't have the money first. All I asked him to do was with the money that is still out there, there's still a lot of PPP money out there, let's break it into different categories because my employees are just as important as anybody else's. I want to be able to put mine back to work at full pay and take care of them.

So you want a separate kind of restaurant PPP program? Is that what you're saying?

The money is there. It's just that the way the narrative ended up that some companies were too big and even though I'm not a public company, because of the size of my company, I didn't want to take it away from smaller restaurant companies. All I said is the money is there. Let's put it in different categories where they can't touch this money and we can't touch that money because you want all of the small, independents taken care of first. I sure didn't want to take the money until they were taken care of.

I believe you just reopened your casino today was it or yesterday? How did that go?

The Golden Nugget, right outside of Houston in Lake Charles, Louisiana was really the first major casino to open up today in America. I know they were there to beat the doors down at 6 o'clock this morning and the first few hours were really good. It's been closed a couple of months. Lots of employees are happy to get back to work and we're sure happy to have it open today.

What did you tell the President about the NBA?

He's ready for some NBA basketball just like the rest of us. He just asked what's happening, have the owners and the commissioner made any decision yet. Every day we're looking at the data and the NBA office and Adam is doing a great job of looking at all the data so we can make a decision in the next few weeks. Hopefully get these players because they want to play. If the players didn't want to play, I'd say "Absolutely, let's move on." but they all voted, the leaders spoke out and we're all excited for NBA basketball this summer at some point.

I figured Morey was likely done. That snippet makes me think it more than likely would have happened last season without Silver’s influence.

On the other hand, Morey signed a 5 year extension a year ago. As evidenced by the MDA contract debacle, Tilman is too cheap to fire him outright and be forced to pay 2 GMs. The only exception I could see is if Morey agreed to leave money on the table to get out of the situation but I sense there Morey really likes James so I can’t see that.

Man, he really might be the worst owner in Houston, I know everyone talks about not firing BOB but once Morey leaves, this franchise is going down the tube fast.

I guess that's what he meant when Trump asked him, "Is Morey still working for you?"

And Tilman said, "That's a tricky question."

The real answer is of course, Tilman is too cheap to fire Morey since he just recently signed an extension. Tilman ain't going to fire and have to pay Morey 4 years so he can sit on his ass and go on Twitch to play Animal Crossing on his Nintendo Switch

And then have to commit to spending a few million more on another GM.
