Like the desktop replacement for much of the day. Or if kids need to hop on for a second - they’re not old enough to trust with a portable laptop moving around, etc. by at night want the ability to disconnect and move it. Or to travel. Etc.
We are still lacking details about intended uses, programs that it will run and the ages of your children. An alternative if your children will be on the Internet most of the time and not needing Windows specific programs: * A nice laptop running Windows for your wife to cover the portability requirement. * An older low cost computer that could dual boot into Ubuntu or similar for your children to use.
Are you using ad block plus and in private or incognito browsing when you engage in this type of activity on a Windows platform?

My whole family besides me uses iphones and ipads. However they all hate MacOS, so we all used windows. There really any need to sync data between the phone and computer, and most of that is done with google anyway.
