Haven't they given up at least couple of third round picks as well? Regardless of whether or not they gain one in a supplemental round, they have still given up 2.
They gave a pick for Conley gain from Seattle. They a 3rd rounder for Duke. However, that pick was conditionally done for the compensatory 3rd. So the Texans still have their 3rd rounder. They also gained a 4th from Miami. The point is...they have a 2nd, 3rd (possibly another 3rd), 2 - 4ths, a 5th, a 7th, and probably a compensatory 7th.
They probably should have.....KC getting the lead is bad for them. Titans are not built to come from behind.
Smart coaches don't make those type of decisions deep in their territory while up and in the 1st half. Risk reward is just not worth it.
More than that the Titans need a quality turnover something they can use to score a TD easily. So far neither team has turned over the ball. The first one to make a mistake will likely lose.
I love watching Mahomes. Andy Reid was so smart to draft up and get him. It's hard to believe how few interceptions he has thrown in his first 2 years. I hope they beat the ex Oilers. For me, nothing would be more fun than to see two gunslingers in Mahomes and Rogers face up in the SuperBowl.
The percentage play oddly enough on 4th and short assuming your offense isnt incompetent in this situation is to just go for it normally. Just in general analytics believe going for it on 4th down is the right play in a lot of situations. Not that any coach would do it because this is the type of stuff that gets you fired, but when you're up against such an ungodly offense you're much better off hoping you do well on 4th downs than to give Maholmes extra 30-40 yards to drive which he can do in his sleep
