I think he mispronounced the word.

    He meant 14

Which is what he averaged for the Houston Rockets....

No one would pass the ball to Pippen, so I find his claim apocryphal.

He did average 40 when he played for the Rockets, didn't he? Seems like I remember what a stupendous job he did.

Makes you wonder why the other guys everyone fawns over (Lebron, Antentokounmpo, Lillard, Mitchell, anyone on the all-star team) aren't doing the same. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........

Fans think that because Harden gets fouled and has high usage that anyone can replicate it. Brilliant.

    Not even a surprise lol.

Man, I hope Harden gets a championship just for the reaction. "Well, so what? I have 6 championships my self and he has just one? So what? Moving on."

Funny how averaging 40 points a game has gotten so easy that everyone in the NBA seems to be doing it these days.

All these All-Stars and future Hall of Famers playing right now and only ONE is anywhere close to 40 ppg.

In 1368 career NBA games (regular season and playoffs), Scottie Pippen scored 40 points in a game a grand total of 5 times.

"Okay so he got one ring. But he did it in an ugly way, disrespecting the game. I did not enjoy watching that. Not my Finals MVP. And if Scott Foster had just taken a few more dunks away, we probably aren't even having this conversation -- Harden just got lucky"

These old heads mad, basically their logic is people who played back then would average 50 nowadays and the scrubs back then would be superstars if they played nowadays lol smh
The game is only getting better and it’s developing each year...

    Let's keep them coming.

In Scottie's highest scoring season, 22 ppg in 1994, as the Bull's lone franchise player, he scored 1587 points.

James Harden scored 2,818 points last year, a mere 1,231 (or 77% ) more than peak Scottie Pippen in 1994.

This year he is on pace to score 3018 points.

Basically, if you take peak Scottie Pippen (22ppg), and then add in cumulative Scottie Pippen (16 ppg), you get the equivalent of 1 James Harden.

55 points on 59/56/100 splits is nothing for Pippen?

Aight let's do some research... Here's a list of all the times Scottie Pippen scored 35 or more points on 55/55/100 or better shooting splits in his ENTIRE CAREER:

(December 21, 1991 vs Hawks) 37 points while having Michael Jordan (not Westbrook) as his "sidekick" also scoring 37 on even better percentages.

That's it. That's the list. On the best night of his career Mr. Pippen was still almost 20 points short of what Harden did last night.

If Scottie played today he’d be somewhere between Mo Harkless and Marvin Williams! Trash

17 seasons, 4 years where he even averaged half of that (20).

And as durvasa said, just 5 games over 40.

    2-18-97: 47 pts
    2-23-91: 43 pts
    2-28-92: 41 pts
    3-11-95: 40 pts
    2-18-96: 40 pts

Yeah yeah, TMac says the same thing. Only a handful of guys have come close to averaging 40 or 35 in NBA history, some of which played in Pippen and other's own era back then.

Pippen averaged 22 a game when he was the man offensively when Jordan retired in 94.

No he wouldn't and there is no excuse.

I used to care about stuff like this being said about Harden. I simply do not care anymore. Win a ring and they can't talk anymore.
