I think LSU can keep it close. The Devon White loss is huge though

This is called the "Mack Brown? is my QB hurt?...nah, run the Freshman out there" strategy.

Is this entertaining for a team to be so much better than everyone else.

Dude, they have to live in Alabama. Let them have this.

Mississippi is just sitting there, looking across the border, saying "why not us?"

It's hilarious that a 2-loss LSU team can be ranked ahead of Washington State and West Virginia when they couldn't even score a single point against Alabama.

    Why?

LSU has losses to #1 and #13, and wins over #5 and #21.

Washington State has a loss to an unranked opponent and a win against #19.
West Virginia has a loss to #16 and a win over #15.

LSU has more losses, but better losses and better wins (and by far the best win). In WVU's case, that would change if they beat OU and win a potential Big12 Title game. WSU has an opportunity to get a decent win vs Washington, but the Pac-12's general suckitude doesn't help them much.

LSU barely beat a 2-8 Arkansas team last week and has no shot of playing for their conference championship after putting up a goose egg against Alabama. I'm opposed to the idea that a team with no shot of winning their conference should be ranked above teams that do this late in the season. I know they are not out yet mathematically but, realistically, they are. Alabama isn't losing two games.

But the CFP rankings aren't designed to project into the future - they are simply a tally of current accomplishments. They don't consider things like whether a team might be able to win their conference or not. 6-3 ISU and 7-3 Texas can still win the B12. Should they also be ranked above LSU?

That's a good point. I see what you're saying and agree that it's a tough task to rank the teams. Ultimately, I'd like to see an 8-team playoff so that these arguments (and G5 teams like UCF who don't lose a game in two years) get a shot.

Oregon-Utah at 6-7 is quite dubious.

I think with Tua going down it eliminated Bama from the playoff even if they have a convincing win over Auburn.

Baylor could end up in the playoffs. That’s amazing! I don’t think they will, but if they beat Oklahoma and Utah isn’t good against Oregon, they’re probably in.
