    from a reliable business publication

Two measures of China's manufacturing activity showed 4 consecutive months of expansion in November 2019

Surveys of manufacturers point to improving confidence and demand last month. The private Caixin manufacturing purchasing managers index rose to 51.8 in November from 51.7 in October, Caixin Media Co. and research firm Markit said Monday. China’s official manufacturing PMI, released Saturday, rose to 50.2 from 49.3.

Ppl really don’t know how to respond to Trump Lies.

Here, instead of using the word “experts” (an untrustworthy, deep state type word), the tweet should say...

“Many people are saying the figures are fakes news. Everyone is talking about it.”

Trump’s Puzzling Tweets Unmask the Real Foe for U.S. Farmers

    • A strengthening dollar has eroded U.S. corn exports this year

    • Brazil, Argentina currencies at or near record lows to dollar

President Donald Trump may have bewildered authorities in Argentina and Brazil by announcing on Twitter new steel tariffs as punishment for cheapening their currencies. But the measure does shine a light on how much the hardy dollar is hurting U.S. farmers.

There’s little evidence those countries have intentionally brought down the value of their currencies; in fact, they’ve both been grappling to stop the rout, which is fueled largely by the relative strength of the U.S. economy.

American corn isn’t impacted by U.S.-China trade tensions because the Asian nation doesn’t buy much of it. Still, U.S. corn exports are down 60% this marketing year mainly because the strong dollar is making it pricier for overseas buyers at a time when global competition is getting fiercer. Orange juice is another commodity caught in the currency cross-hairs.

With the South American countries reaping bumper crops and Ukraine becoming more productive agriculturally, U.S. farmers are facing increasing global competition.

If the trade war and tariffs “went away tomorrow, we’d still have a problem in U.S. agriculture, and that’s a strong dollar,” said Ann Duignan, a JPMorgan Chase & Co. analyst, in an interview with Bloomberg TV last week. “The reality of it is, the Chinese will buy at competitive prices, they’re not going to pay up for our commodities.”

Meanwhile, both Brazil and Argentina have said they’re seeking to boost the value of their currency. Argentina’s peso plunged earlier this year after election results put a left-wing candidate in the presidency. Brazil has tried to prop up the falling real multiple times in the past month, with the devaluation causing havoc in some parts of the economy.

Agriculture isn’t one of them. A weaker local currency has pushed up crop profits in the past few years, allowing South American growers to expand. At the same time, demand for Brazilian corn is surging as the spread of African swine fever helps fuel a protein boom.

“Some Brazilian farmers say this was one of the best seasons in terms of profitability ever,” Tarso Veloso, an analyst at Chicago-based ARC Mercosul said. “That’s not because of Chicago prices.”

    Lies, they are.

But the lies spoken earnestly sound great. Isn't that what is really important?

LOL... I remember it was a big deal when a president said something like "Read my lips..." or "You can have your own doctor..."

It's pretty clear - forget about Trump and learn to think for yourself. Farmers need to grow healthy foods humans eat. How absurd is it that someone needs 100s of acres and 6 to 7 figures worth of automated equipment + continuous supply of chemicals to STAY AFLOAT growing food? That isn't farming. That isn't food fit for human consumption. Government needs to realize humans will never be able to eat moneyand stand up to big AG and Monsanto's instead of bending over for them. This is where "boring" Senators like Liz Warren can go great things, she isn't going to blindly go with whoever has the most lobbying power. This is what Americans need to be demanding, not $50,000 vehicles that are affordable to the middle class.

The president’s assertion that he wanted a deal with Beijing was a departure from his recent statements, in which he had said that China wanted an agreement more than the United States.

It appeared to be a signal that the president would delay or cancel a tranche of tariffs
scheduled to go into effect this weekend, on roughly $160 billion of Chinese products.

That move would have extended levies to cover nearly every good that the United States imposed from China — a total of $539.5 billion of merchandise last year.

Several of Mr. Trump’s closest advisers had recommended a delay in the levies, which would have included taxes on smartphones, laptops and apparel. That could open Mr. Trump up to political attacks that he is taxing American consumers during the holiday season approaches, and halt any progress in negotiations with China toward finishing a trade pact. Those negotiations have failed to produce a concrete agreement, despite Mr. Trump’s announcement in October that the two countries had agreed on a Phase 1 deal.

Many of Mr. Trump’s advisers have been wary of increasing tariffs on China just as negotiations appear to be approaching a conclusion.

But that sentiment has not been unanimous. Peter Navarro, Mr. Trump’s hawkish trade adviser, circulated a memo this week under his alias, Ron Vara, making the case for forging ahead with additional tariffs and delaying any deal until after the 2020 election.

Mr. Navarro and other administration officials have emphasized that the final call on Sunday’s tariffs is up to Mr. Trump.

Take a big step away from the wall. Now take a step half the distance to the wall. And then another step, half the distance. Do you ever get to the wall?

    who to believe,

at the Q&A session by the Chinese officials, they issued a statement that
the tariffs on Chinese imports to US which was supposed to go into effect on 15 Dec
is no longer operative, and that China will purchase US ag products as warranted by market dynamics ?

Soo..... let me get this straight. The “Trade Deal” that was just announced on my newsfeed is simply a reduction in US tariffs on Chinese goods?

People really are that stupid to believe anything and the media is really that bad at their job aren’t they??
