Dolemite is My Name - 8/10 maybe a 9. I was entertained start to finish. Now I'm going to have to check out the original.

JoJo Rabbit. 9/10. I'll blindly watch anything attached to Taika Waititi. It was a great movie. Good humor, good drama and emotion. There's a moment that punches you in the gut so hard. Very good movie.

It was a fantastic movie. It didn't score well with a lot of critics because Nazis are a delicate subject - some critics thought it humanized Nazis too much, others thought it wasn't accurately portraying them, others thought it didn't criticize Nazis enough. The movie satirizes them.

But the film registers well with the audience who have all praised it. I definitely recommend it if it's available to you. It's still on limited release.

Black Swan - 8/10 - Man, this was one effed up movie. But I really enjoyed it. I've always enjoyed exploring the minds of tortured artists and seeing what makes them tick. Most people who are really good at what they do are also a little paranoid. Portman was stunningly good. And a fantastic soundtrack.

I've always preferred the symphony over the ballet, but I may have to go to a ballet one of these days.

found an edited scene from that movie. I'm glad they took it out. It didn't really seem to fit the theme.

I know I've probably overrated this movie, but it's the last genuinely fun movie I can remember watching.

    The Parasite - 10/10

From writing to acting to cinematography was all as good as it gets. It was absolutely masterful.

    Motherless Brooklyn 6.5/10

Enjoyed it, but you could see most things coming. I think it could have been really good if there was a better director. Norton directed it and it felt stale at times.

I saw an interview where someone said Norton and Alec Baldwin may both be up for Oscars, I disagree. Baldwin is good, but not much screen time.

Norton was in every single scene and it felt a bit self serving.

All in all I still enjoyed the film.

    The Laundromat - 2/10

I love Soderbergh, but couldn’t believe how bad this was. Good cast wasted on a really strangely told story.

I watched it last night for the first time. I thought it was just terrific. Emotionally, it definitely landed for me.

Was on a Carnival cruise over the Halloween week. They have an Imax on the ship, so we took the opportunity to watch Joker.

I know this movie has really polarized a lot of people, people seem to either love it hate it. My wife and I both really enjoyed it, and there's plenty there to dissect after the fact. Phoenix ought to win the Oscar for this performance.

However, that was NOT the last movie we saw.

After watching Joker in Imax, the ship showed XMen: Dark Phoenix on the 'big HD screen' by the pool, so we decided to sit out there and watch that.

That was the last movie I watched. And oh my God. All I can say is, thank goodness Marvel now has this franchise back in the fold, because Fox had no clue. None. I'm sure this one has been torn apart at length already, but for me, it was the most phoned-in production I have ever seen. You could tell on the faces of the actors that they all knew what they were doing was total suckage. From McAvoy on down, you could see it in their eyes - 'Well, it's a paycheck, and this will be the last one, and then I am free.' And Sophie Turner wins the Malin Akerman Prize for acting - that is to say, *terrible*. Possibly the worst casting of all the terrible casting done by Fox in this franchise over the years. If Sophie ever lands another starring role in anything ever again, I will be surprised.

    Dark Phoenix - 2/10
