This is a surprising stat for me mostly because the "man" in the man coverage disappears after the receiver starts his route.
I’m coming around on the draft pick trades. We had two major problems coming into this season. We fixed one with immense draft capital and the other has gotten really ugly with injuries. If you draft a CB next draft they usually struggle their first year. Adding a young guy like Conley and Lonnie Johnson in year 2 plus Roby or another FA puts us in a better place in 2020 then a drafted 3rd round CB would. Cautiously optimistic.
Another one of those third rounders will be compensation for Duke Johnson unless he gets hurt or cut or traded before he is active for 10 games.
He’s a man corner who was statistically a top corner in the back half of last season. This could end up being a fantastic trade for the Texans.
He’s also a man corner who’s been one of the worst corners in the league this year. I hope it works out, but a 3rd is a lot to give up for hope.
They changed their scheme to zone. 10 months ago he was running more man and giving Antonio Brown all he could handle.
I hope it really is as simple as a scheme change. Bump and run man corners are nice to have. The only other issue is he’s a terrible tackler and offers no run support. I’m willing to give him a chance. Still doesn’t make me happy to give up a 3rd for an unkown.

For this season I would have preferred Ramsey, Harris, or Peters. Marcus Peters was a steal. But I think the team values younger guys under contract like Duke, Laremy, and Gareon. They are paying premium for that. From Grudens perspective, he just got a 3rd for a player he was going to bench or cut. Conley pretty much was the Raiders' Aaron Colvin. Except somehow he got s 3rd rounder for him. Trading a 1st rounder for a 3rd a couple years later isn't horrible but not a plus either For the Texans, it won't matter if Conley gets his act together. Having Lonnie, Conley, and Roby back for the playoffs is not bad. None of them are a true #1 shot down but as a group they might be good enough.
