ClutchFans Game Thread: Raptors @ Rockets 10/10/2019 (Preseason)

Good game.

• Harden really struggled in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, particularly with Raps' length and increased pace.
• Raps are really lengthy, and really well-coached from star to scrub.
• Chandler was subbed in earlier than expected b/c Clint could not adjust when Rap's turned up the tempo.
  
• The calls generally were in the Rap's favor and frustrated PJ a bit and I think Russ who picked up a T for basically expressing "... finally" when he got a call FOR him.
• Russ looked really good and saw success with his iso at the end of 3rd/4th, not so much before then. He was the reason we evened it up. I haven't paid much attention to Russ' iso game, but to me it looked like he figured out mid-game he can lull his defender for easy blow-bys in the half-court.
• Russ' ability to create is refreshing but the shooters look like they're not ready to catch his passes or play at his speed. Hopefully this comes with time.
• Harty was really good in scrub minutes - especially given the Rap's rooks are all lengthy too. He was 2nd to Tyson in knowing how to grab and secure a rebound.
• House looked more like himself but in scrub minutes. Hopefully he can translate that when he's playing alongside starters.
• Apparently, the Rap's broadcast was unbearable but I have LP.

 

There is no way this team is going to contend with Westbrook taking 11 threes a game and there is absolutely no justification for it. Spot up, wide open threes, sure. Dribble pull ups, no way. Those are shots Gordon or Harden should be taking.

He shouldn't be taking any more than 2-3 a game. His game must change.

 

At this point we know who we are. Harden ISO, feed capela for easy buckets and 3s...lots and lots and lots of 3s

Key is for Westbrook to be himself, and I believe he will.

 

its not going to unless mike D makes it a point. westbrook clearly still doesnt realize he is not a good shooter. he needs to stop trying to be something he's not. he will sink this ship fast the same way he did OKC last year if it doesn't stop.

I fear with our coach inability to hold players accountable that it will be all up to the veterans and WB own maturity. This applies to Harden too.

It’s still a preseason game and he’s probably trying to get into a rhythm to see. Gotta see what they do in the actual season or at least see where they are at mid way.

You just gotta hope his other positives outweigh him being a black hole with a broke shot.

Despite shooting horribly he still ended up making an impact cuz he got 3 steals, 4 assists and got to the line a lot. WB's defense just needs to improve and he will be fine.

Why does it have to be either ? How about onLy shoot 3s when wide open in the flow or get to the basket ? It’s pretty simple. Only take good shots. This is what is frustrating about westbrook. It’s really a simple fix but he won’t do it
