Walk away buddy, this is for adults. If you know you can't discuss without being childish, walk away.

We don't have to agree, but we should respect each other's opinion and bring something more tangible to the table than "sick burns"

That's not his job. His job is to manage the Houston Rockets.....
Still waiting on a championship, almost 20 years later

If Chinese government hadn't pushed so much and unwilling to make any compromise, I would agree Silver and the NBA are willing to just give in acquiesce to kowtowing to China for money.

However if you look at the sentiments on Chiness sites, it's clear China thinks the NBA hasn't done enough. They want the NBA to denounce Morey fully and state their position in favor of China fully in order to calm their anger.

Right now the NBA risk losing its domestic customers if they fully give in. That's the issue for the billionaires you say wont take less. Because right now they are forced to take less. Just a matter of them taking less from China or the US

    Chairman Xi.

If DM is out, that means this country will be owned by the CCP, we may as well kiss the highest arse together.

Still seated? He tweeted on behalf of himself, not the Houston Rockets. Which is admittedly tricky to follow, because while he has a job, he is also a human with thoughts.

    Exactly,

people still don't understand that there are owners in this league that still have some kind of ethics and proud values not like sh't owner named Tilman and also another group of owners like the Suns, the Magics and the Kings or T wolves probably don't give a fork about the 235 fans they are having in China comparing with what they have in here.

Right and those people should be able to express their opinions on Chinese or American policy outside of their work without a government stepping in.

People do things outside their jobs. People are humans. They are not regulated to doing things only pertaining to their job. This is a lazy argument.

Lol anyone that thinks Morey has ANY idea his tweet would blow up THIS much is insane

Morey probably could have reasonably expected to have to apologize

Banning the rockets and now subsequently banning the nba is a HUUUGE overreaction

“Sensitive about this issue” my ass

If that’s true then let’s talk about it and this can be a learning opportunity for everyone involved. Instead of demanding for his firing and leveraging the NBA at the expense of your own people .

If he voluntarily resigns there is only once choice. His protege! Sam Hinkie.

But I certainly hope it doesn't come to that.

Hope you are sitting for this, before being hired for a job, you are made to sign a bunch of papers, one of those papers will say something to the effect of, do not say anything, tweet anything or disparage your employer in anyway or it's customers or it's partners. Violation of this is subject to termination.

    Still seated?
Tilman could have fired him, but that would be a PR nightmare for the league. But make no mistake about it, if this team struggles just a little.....

And good luck to Morey finding a job with another NBA team or China.

He can start a podcast, where he can do whatever the **** he wants. Not for my team.

You touch on it here, but just to make this crystal clear: The first amendment protects American citizens from government persecution for their speech (with a few exceptions), but that protection does NOT extend to your job. Most states (including Texas) have at-will employment laws, meaning your employer can fire you for any reason, bad or good, or no reason, with exceptions for protected classes. So yes, Morey's speech is protected from US government persecution, but the critics' speech (just the Americans though) is also protected, and Tilman still can legally fire Morey for his speech (and people can troll Tillman for that).

I think everyone comes out looking terrible in this, but especially the NBA. I agree with Morey's political statement and support his right to say it, but let's not act like he's a moral hero here. He made a vague, off the cuff statement, and then deleted it, following it up with a weird non-apology. Not exactly Colin Kaepernick level resolve here. That pales in comparison to the NBA, who decide to issue a strange apology, and fudge the translation so it sounds more apologetic in Chinese. That's truly deceptive, and they should have known better. The NBA isn't the first American company who has tried to make money in China only to come up against the Chinese government, they had to have known this was going to happen somehow, at some time, and should have had a PR plan in place, and preferably not one that apologizes for supporting democratic freedoms.

You don't own him. You have no clue what contract he signed and he didn't disparage the Rockets. He made a statement in support of protests against a autocratic regime.

The sense of entitlement you have is hilarious and sad at the same time.

Why don't you take 50% of your own advice and just shut up, Tilman.

I actually think he is a hero in this case because this forces the NBA's hand to reevaluate their business ties with a dictatorship. The limelight has been placed on the NBA and now people are questioning NBA"s "woke" activism's hypocrisy.

American businesses are watching carefully over this situation and are seeing the angry reaction from the US consumer base when a American company bows to China.

This is a very important matter. Our media conglomerates are trying to make a quick buck in China. Look at ESPN who is consistently criticizing Morey over this tweet. Follow the money. ESPN is owned by Disney. Disney is trying extremely hard to cater towards the Chinese market. You really want these massive media conglomerates being mouth pieces for the Chinese government? I really hope not.
