The problem with Tillman firing Morey, is the backlash with the Rockets U.S. fans. The ones that buys Tickets in HOUSTON. The best thing is Morey is to apologize, saying he made a mistake weighing in on the internal politics of China and didn't meant offend anyone. Then, let it die......over time.

I can only hope Harden steps in and says if Morey goes, I go.

Maybe Trump is too busy fighting impeachment, whistle blowers, Mitt Romney, and whoever else angered him this week to tweet about this.

If Tillman fires Morey over a tweet supporting an oppressed people, it is the day that the Houston Rockets are no longer Houston team. They become the China rockets. And I don't live in China.

At this point i think USA government should let NBA and brokeboy know what is their leagues origin country. They can always play basketball in China if they want to bow for them

When you start shooting at peaceful protesters with live ammo, they tend to get upset.

I appreciate that it has escalated, but a large reason for that is the actions of the popo.

fire Morey or not. hope everything get settled soon. don't want it to drag on into regular season. don't want any distraction to the team. this season is gonna be a huge opportunity for the Rockets trying to win a chip.
Harden(adidas) and Russ(Nike) probably not too happy about losing such a big market.

    Daryl Morey reads Kahneman.

The owner has ghostwriters that crank out management p*rn under his name.

Yeah, this relationship is not going to last.

A good year on the court is probably screwed up now. What a cluster.

    Exactly,

will you ever expect Pop or Kerr to kiss Trump’s ass?

We are living in a country that there are many things and value bigger than money and sh’t.

For all the people hating on Tilman here, he paid the highest amount ever ($2.2b) for the Rockets, in part due to their business interests in China. He leveraged himself and the purchase is worth a significant percentage of his own net worth. It is easy to talk about some moral high ground behind a keyboard with nothing to lose. Tilman and the NBA have a ton to lose.

I don't know why people are all of a sudden so passionate over democracy and freedom of speech. You guys realize we are allies with some of the most oppressive regimes ever like the Saudis right? Welcome to the real world, your morals only matter when money isn't involved.

Yes. Morey may not have only impacted the team's finances, but may also have hurt the players.

Prediction: There will be an orchestrated cave. Silver and whoever else will get involved to soothe the Chinese authorities and Chinese outrage. Morey will go along with whatever apology is required, because he didn't check with the organization before doing this, and because he realizes that his tweet accomplished nothing, and because the alternative would be getting fired or demoted or suspended. Hell, maybe he'll go along with being suspended.

The purpose and upshot of the cave will be to give China a sense of satisfaction and to let the storm gradually blow over, so that normal business can be resumed. Because that's the god the global sports entertainment industry worships: normal business.

Would Steve Balmer have cared about Chinese revenue?

It’s not only Tilman and the Rockets fans.

It will be the whole NBA.

Think about it, this is not Trump, which there could be still 40/60 split in Americans.

We are talking about a dictatorship communist power which both parties are working on many ways trying to defend our benefits.

Adam Silver is not a moron.

let’s be real, there ain’t an owner alive that wouldn’t be debating firing Morey after the damage that’s been done

I’m scared I’ll wake up tomorrow or Tuesday morning to a “Morey has resigned” or “Morey has been fired” tweet

the NBA is probably furious with Morey...a 5 year extension was just agreed to with Tencent, and now they’ve banned the most popular team in China

Adidas probably pissed too since Harden is the face of Adidas basketball

Russ is also big in China, so what does this do for Jordan Brand and their promotion of him in China?

money rules everything when it comes to big business, and Morey done fcked up big time

just gotta hope an apology and a backtrack is enough to stop all this foolishness...I don’t want to see Morey gone

What next ban James Harden and Russell Westbrook shoes.

Yao Ming got world famous because of the Rockets. The Chinese Government forcing Yao to play every year on their Garbage Players National Team, Broke his Foot, Broke his Knee. Forcing him to play instead of resting in the offseason.

The China Government shortened his Career, and the Government always took half of Yaos salary every year. If Yao makes $20 million, but makes only $10 million.
