Classic straw-man argument. War and death is "OK" if you choose your leaders... You clearly have failed to understand the basics of freedom or you wouldn't even attempt such a weak straw-man argument.

With freedom even famous leaders like Churchill and T. Roosevelt were VOTED out of office. One major difference is there are consequences of your actions in a democracy so leaders are judged regularly on performance of items on your list such as war, death etc. As those things are *rather unpopular genuinely elected officials know that their future (and of their family and party etc.) literally ride on how they handle things.

When there are no consequences leaders spend their time tightening their grip. Electing themselves perpetually, restricting free speech and establishing absolute control over the media. Biggest activity of such leaders like Putin and countless others? Make damn sure you don't expose your public full of "lesser individuals" to too many people who enjoy genuine freedom. Instead they give them just enough food and shelter to survive and make certain they depend on you for those items.

They did it for a noble cause. It was a tactical decision by them to attack state-owned businesses to gain leverage against the government. Some of the businesses have been colluding with pro-Beijing thugs to beat up protesters but the police did nothing about it so they decided to punish them themselves. Situation will probably get worse in the coming days as the government is considering declaring curfew. Time will tell it's right or wrong but if it needs to happen for HK to achieve democracy, then it needs to happen.

An American and a Chinese are drinking together. The American says to his Chinese friend: "you have no freedom in your country, you cannot say bad things of your president publicly". The Chinese agrees: "sure, but you cannot say good things of your president publicly".

When you say Chinese are brainwashed, please don't act like you are not.

While each news outlet in the US certainly has its own spin machine, it’s clear each is free to spin it’s own brand of truth. Are you suggesting it’s better to rely on one state run media outlet that controls their own brand of the spin?

Who says you can’t speak bad or good about anyone publicly? Clearly you’re not watching Fox News and CNN. You’ll get both. That’s the definition of freedom of speech and press that makes a democracy distinctly different from China.

If you wanted to be funny or smart-sounding, you didn't succeed. And if you wanted to make a point, then you may want to specify as to what exactly were Americans brainwashed of. Are you saying Trump is awesome in some way and we weren't told of it? What did Fox and Friends missed?! Enlighten us please.

LOL They were not State owned business. They were destroying grocery shops and independent coffee shops as part of the riots. LOL destroying the subway and metro system and damaging the gates is a calculate decision? The public is turning on the protesters quicker and sooner then later all of the remaining ones will be thrown in jail.

Tillman isn't a dumbass. He isnt going to risk billions in sponsorship for some short term protest that will never last.

    Sure.

What you have mentioned are exactly the pictures the CCP wanted to show to its brainwashed people.

I bet almost most of those Chinese ever saw this kind of video - that young students, man and women, poor and middle class, lawyers and butchers, retired old man are marching out daily crying their hearts out and fight for whatever they deserved and promised.

They will also tell you how violently the masked protesters how to destroy the stores and the subway but they will never show you how did they fight against a group of fully geared, much more violence and corrupted cops firing shots point blank at them and how the subway operated with the cops against the protesters.

I thought Morey were smarter than this, it is stupid to air your own political opinion through Twitter, especially your Twitter is also followed as the channel of the GM of Rockets. Rockets is also considered one of the China friendly organization, now both morey and the organization have to think the damage controls. It is at least stupid to Throw the Rockets and yourself under the bus for your personal opinion and not keeping it for yourself. Morey really think Twitter is a site for personal opinion¿ just look around again.
Hong Kong problem is China’ own internal issue, before he Twitter, he should had thought about other 1.4 billon if he cares. When you are a GM of a NBA team, and a graduate from a management school, he definitely should.
As a Chinese who lives in US, it is sad to see things goes this far, a human right protest became a riot, riot usually ends badly. I keep the rest of my opinion for myself here.

The gorcery store you talked about was own by Fujian people who colluded with thugs to beat up civillians and I don't know which coffee shop you are talking about. The metro is a state owned business and they have been using the metro system to transport police officers to beat up civilians and people are angry over it. I have to say that I myself don't know whether it's right or wrong either and only time will tell. But the protesters are doing it for a good cause and attempting everything they can to preassure HK govt and Beijing. And peaceful protest is useless in HK against a totalitarian government.

Lol if Occupy Wall street started flooding the subways and disrupting the metro because of what they thought was right, ask yourself what the US Government would honestly do.

On the 4th of July parade, we didnt even allow anti Trump protesters anywhere near the capital for the speech. And you think what? That we would allow that **** to happen in our country either? Stop fkin kidding yourself. What china is doing right now and Hong Kong is doing is what ANY government would be doing across the globe. Dont be so fkin naive.

It depends on the context. If Hong Kong were as democratic and liberal as the US, then I would have opposed to it. But in HK we are talking legit suppression from the Chinese government and if we lose this battle our basic rights and freedom will gradually slip away. That alone is justifiable to me. And hitting state owned business to bring pressure on Beijing is a logical strategy.
