This really should be tweeted by Captain Obvious. Good NFL LTs are never available, absent some serious bridge burning between player and team.

Still was fun to think about for a few minutes though.

Clowney isn't going to show up to practice and bust his ass all preseason when we are holding him on the franchise tender.

This is normal. Players don't want to be franchised. If you do it, they do this to you.

The HC has a weird dislike for Clowney.

OBrien is the luckiest coach in the league. If he didn't get bailed out by the fact that Watson is a special athlete and overcomes his terrible playcalling to win regular season games, Obrien would be fired.

#1 boggles me, if true. All indications were that it was a repeat of the Bridgewater fiasco. If they actually thought Howard would be better than Dillard, who by all accounts is doing marvelously as a rookie, then that's a bigger problem than missing Dillard or not having an immediate contingency to trade out of the Howard pick slot.

Add, 'if he didn't work for one of the most change-averse ownership groups in the NFL.'

Christ, I can see falling head over heels for a coach candidate who'd done something, like Chip Kelly, but what did Bob do as a college coach to warrant this kind of faith!?

If the Dolphins have truly taken Laremy Tunsil off the table, I'd guess their proposed trade package is Kenny Stills and a 2nd

    — Brad_OTC (@BradOTC) August 27, 2019

FWIW, Dolphins GM Chris Grier is the son of Bobby Grier, who was with the Texans personnel department from 2000-2016. The Texans drafted Clowney in 2014. Bobby has done some work as an advisor to the Dolphins since 2017. (factoid: Chris' brother is retired NHL player Mike Grier.)

Isn't a second a lot less than teams ended up giving for D line/edge guys like Clark? If a second was the price, and nobody said yes, even if it was for only a rental under the tag, what does that say about the League's perception of Clowney?

Again, I think we're not getting the complete story. Far more likely, IMHO, that the Texans were acting like the Redskins with whether or not to trade Williams. The turmoil at GM couldn't have helped.

Disagree. You can be all in on playing under the tag, but that doesn’t mean you have to or even should show up any earlier than you have to. He’s not under contract so don’t believe they can’t fine him for not being in camp.

I remember a few days ago, O’Brien said something along the lines of “sometimes you have to give up more for what you want.” Meaning we’re probably not going to be happy with the trade.

I’ve always said that they should’ve traded clowney a long time ago. I even started a thread two years ago.

They should’ve had the common sense to trade him before the draft.

If they were adamant about not keeping him as OBrien appears to be then they should have traded him already for sure. They are just being stupid now.

Texans might be the worst ran organization in sports. Start thinking past Deshaun. He will either be injured or ask for a trade in the next few years.
