    lagniappe (lan-Yap)- an old Louisiana tradition, especially in the French Quarter of New Orleans. ... As well, the word lagniappe might be applied to any unexpected bonus that comes with something else. For example, if you bought a car and found a 50 dollar bill in the trunk, it would be a lagniappe.
