Undoubtedly WB will help with transitition points. But seriously, I can't recall the last time we ran a fast break where at least one of the trailers runs out to the ****ing corner for a 3... It uses to drive me nuts!... I wondering will DAntoni now re-incorporate his 7 seconds or less style now that WB probably will receive his share of outlet passes..... I would hope that if WB gets an outlet pass after a rebound, it's 100% go time!.. If Harden gets it, just do what we been doing... I like the contrast of styles in this area.. Also, where is Faried? I think he is tailormade for WB with this style of play...
Hope that WB can get us rim runnin' with House, Gordon, Capella and whoever else wants to come along. We need more of that up-tempo.
Rockets were always 1 of the league leaders in fast break points per game with Harden until the arrival of CP0 and Morey turning us into the oldest team in the league 12-13: 2nd 13-14: 3rd 14-15: 2nd 15-16: 3rd 16-17: 5th last 2 years we were 17th and 19th 1 thing to keep in mind tho...we also used to be 1 of the league leaders in turnovers per game 12-13: 30th 13-14: 29th 14-15: 28th 15-16: 27th 16-17: 25th last 2 years we were 9th and 11th I expect us to be more like the pre-CP0 Rockets now...more fastbreak points, and a big increase in turnovers
Need more long run jump demons on this team. And we needed these players BEFORE Russ, more so now! Energy should be infectious.
He's older but he can still fly. Faried would be a great fit with WB too. But Russ needs spacers too, OKC did him no favors by surrounding him with non-shooters.
Especially if we get a wing who does what Trevor did, we can really get back to those fast break plays
I agree... What the **** did they get him for then?... I think they need to run basic fundamental fast break drills... You know like, nobody run to the 3 PT line... Or the trailer actually trails... And the most important one, whomever leads the brake, to not overdribble the damn ball...
If this means Capela develops hard man hands for ironclad rebounding, then I, for one, welcome our new overlord Russell.
I want AG, RoCo and Bruno flanking Harden and WB. Three 6'9 guys that can switch on any player, run baseline to baseline, play way above the rim, launch 3's and have a block party on every possession. Not sure how to do it but Morey needs to make this happen. WB/Rivers Harden/JSimmons/Green Covington/House Bruno/Tucker AGordon/Chandler/Bennett (Faried)
I see this as potentially being the best of both worlds. Westbrick is gonna push the pace & Capela's one of the best bigs in the league running the court / break while Tucker / EG / House fill the corners. That's your initial probe of the defense , layups , dunks and 3's - Harden's gonna be the trailer more often than not and get a lot of open top of the key 3's because of the chaos in trying to defend Westbrick and Co early in the clock …. with the option to go into pick and roll / iso sets after. Should be a real dynamic offense with both of them on the court for those 18-20 minutes a game. Then contrasting styles for those times one or the other is on the bench - 7 seconds or less / Pick & Roll - ISO. Basically this is what we expected when SeePeeFre was brought in and didn't get ….
