this is all a great distraction from the 2019 draft success the Rockets just displayed as well as the pending 2019 free agent season success they are no doubt about to display
While I do think it comes off as a bit childish, I don’t condemn the team doing this. As we again saw yesterday with that ridiculous NBA Espn tweet, the bias against Harden is blatant, real, and completely irrational. The Rockets are just doing what any organization would do, defend their guy.
Funny thing is, most NBA players love Harden and most teams would love to have him. We need to rise above the rest of the fray and hang our head high.
There is definitely a mob mentality on twitter and yeah in terms of what "sells" it is definitely Rockets bashing. I will say the Rockets have horrible PR at the moment and I will say that it also extends out to Adidas having bad PR as well. Adidas may listen to Harden on the way he wants to be promoted but they are doing very little if anything at all to mitigate all the negativity towards probably their biggest NBA client at the moment. For example - take what the Warriors did in light of the KD achillies tear, they got out in front of it Myers had that "crying" press conference etc and it made it seem that yeah GS did everything they could help KD and this was truly a freak accident. It took a while for mumurs of the Warriors not handling the situation well enough to come out. Only Perkins and Jay Williams were adamant about it the very next day.
Morey has tweeted "Congratulations to the Warriors" as respectfully as possible and still gotten **** for it. The Rockets Twitter account could've said nothing about the MVP vote and would still have idiots trying to dunk on them. Nothing can be said or done that people won't try to take the worst way possible.
Again, this shouldn’t have come from the official rockets but come on.... The media bashing of the rockets is just beyond acceptable. All the “fans” gloating about rockets missteps are in same boat as the media who just loves to pile on.
Giannis won the most popular award, but Harden is the real MVP. But whatever.... hopefully this makes Harden more determine than ever and he drops 50 on Giannis head next season.
People need to stop being so damn sensitive. The Rockets are just sticking up for their superstar franchise player.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if anybody above their social media person approved this. And that absolutely includes James, who I bet would have said to just let it be. The thing about Harden this season that got almost zero attention is that he was very locked in and businesslike the whole season. Very little in the way of celebrations after scoring. No telling people he's the best in the world as he did previously, even though it was probably true even at that time. No media feuds or anything. No saying he deserved the MVP. No reports of him going to strip clubs after games that I can remember. Actually, he was one of the quietest players out there, just doubling down on trying get his team wins. Meanwhile, you've got Curry being a total petty ass flashing the number 13 over his jersey after one terrible attempt at a stepback three. The only thing you can point to is James calling out a consistently-biased referee after yet another terribly-officiated game. And I don't fault him for that, so I won't point to it. The Rockets' org needs to just stay as quiet as possible and put their nose to the grindstone working on building a team that can win this guy a championship. That's the ONLY marketing and promoting that will enhance the team's image.
Nah, f%$k the high road. That "turn the other cheek" **** is kinda pointless when you keep getting punched in the face by ignorant a*holes year after year.
Oh no!!! All the little internet girls are mad! Quick! TIlman relocate and sell the team!! The sky is falling!!! Perhaps it’s time to get off SM and go play a pick up game or two.... #StayCalm
