Kyre is a great player, but not a first option on a team. He is a great 1B player and that's why Nets want to pair him with an 1A player like Durant. Irving is not a leader.

Wolves Think D'Angelo Russell Will Be In Play For Them

The Minnesota Timberwolves are "up to something," according to Zach Lowe.

D'Angelo Russell will be a restricted free agent and the Brooklyn Nets have been linked with Kyrie Irving.

"There has been a lot of Minnesota (signing) D'Angelo Russell noise," said Lowe. "And it's not all Karl Towns commenting on Instagram because they're friends. Minnesota has communicated to the league, not the NBA league, just the league at large that they believe they have a pathway to get D'Angelo Russell.

"I can't see what it is because they're capped out and they have all of these contracts nobody wants, but they've communicated that."

    From the comments:

Local Wolves reporter Jon Krawczynski, on MIN Sports Radio just now too " "I don't think the Wolves are done by any stretch of the imagination. They are telling teams out there that they have big plans. Whether that means D-Lo or something else. They're making big time efforts to bring in a real needle mover. Keep your eyes open."

No? Irving led the C's to the Promised (a Disaster) Land this past season.

I'm in the camp that Kyrie is a star but not necessary a franchise superstar. If no other stars join Kyrie and you're the Nets GM, would you still offer him the max?

D'angelo Russell and Kyrie is a very solid back court, as ball dominant as Kyrie is, they can put him as a 2-guard. Let D'Angelo do the play running (like Lebron did for Kyrie on the Cavs), and let Kyrie ball out as a scoring guard.

Would be interesting to see if DRussell can keep his Allstar spot......and keep averaging 22 ppg or better.

Well, it's pretty much all over the Interwebs anyway.

Articles state that Boston's level of interest in Steven Adams---low, high, whatever---is unknown. Or what Boston would actually give up in return.

Boston was likely Capela's landing spot until Memphis jumped up in the draft (Clutch's speculation, but jibes with media reports). Where does that stand? Pay $15,000,000 for Capela still, or pay $25,000,000 for Steven Adams?

Kyrie has already proven that he is the second best player on a championship team. Could he be the best player?

(I mean, If you give him Klay and Draymond he probably could be...)

Capela = 4 year deal at 17/18M per season

Adams = 2 year deal at 26/27M per season

...no wonder Ainge wants Capela more, the player's level is pretty much the same, age is the same, but Capela is a much better asset/contract.

Mmmh not sure this is true, if Embiid is hot i don't think there's a player that can effectively guard him one on one, as for Giannis it's more on how you defend the Bucks i think.

    Woj:

Reason Kyrie has gravitated to Brooklyn is the infrastructure. If Kyrie misses 10-15 games, Dinwiddie comes in & won't lose all those games. LeVert, Allen, Joe Harris, management, coach, that has made it more attractive. Knicks have to start looking at other contingencies on selling Durant coming to them. This is a $38M rehab year. New York has felt that push away from them & toward Brooklyn. Brooklyn is in position to get a commitment from Kyrie.

If not Durant (with Kyrie), where does Brooklyn go? Do they sign Kyrie?

Idea of Kyrie as a solo act hasn't been the plan. It's been about a 2nd star, about KD. ... I don't think they want to max any of those players out. Tobias perhaps but could they get them at a lower number? If KD doesn't come & Kyrie says I'm ready, there will be a moment of truth.

Lowe: I don't think they'll overpay Russell & splurge on Harris. They risk on trapping themselves in. Shooting for Kyrie & KD gives them a chance to be great.
