It's actually not that bad, the flat 2D one is ugly because they fill out the space, the basketball is just grey and all depth is lost. The orb is actually like around the planets and moons they find in space, which gets lost in that 2d design as well. The font is still generic and does not match the R, but I don't mind seeing this logo on TV if they show it like this.

The really need to clean up the logo. Get rid of the blood drips at the bottom.

It was made by an amateur. The two logos don’t event use the same perspective. They’re just lazily stacked on top of each other.

The camera in the red R is looking down
The camera in the basketball is looking up

You just don’t do this like this in graphics. It’s terrible and makes no sense.

They put in some decent work for the dimensional one but the issue is that the one that will be seen the most is the flat one and that one is terrible from a design perspective. It was lazy and executed poorly.

Also, the thing about the jerseys is that, while they used the same font, they used scale on the red and white ones to try to match the width of "Rockets" to the "Houston" on the black instead of using a little letter spacing. As someone mentioned, a bit amateur.

I like the retros but they definitely needed to give "Houston" some breathing room around the type. As I said, bad execution.

Apparently, roughly 90% of ClutchFans subscribers are graphic designers. What are the odds?

Haha. Okay, then YOU can make logo- and jersey-redesign posts. :)
