Him not taking their original deal is a different story. That's where the road forks.

After he decided not to take the deal, sitting out was a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

That's a pretty insane difference in guaranteed money (35 vs 10). If true, Bell looks even more justified in turning it down. Yikes.

FWIW "rolling guarantee" basically means "yearly" guaranteed money... as in, after a certain date each season, the player's money for that year becomes "guaranteed". So it essentially creates a team option every offseason to cut that player with no consequences. Kind of a faux guarantee, really.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the contract included $33 million in guaranteed money, which was going to be paid out over the first two years. Rapoport also noted that the first three years of the deal would pay out $45 million (or $15 million per season), but didn't note if all of that money was guaranteed

seems you didn't believe this? but re posted the same source above

Pit went cheap and their SB window has closed. Unless you have TB and BB you can’t overcome stars leaving...

    Get out of here.

Connor was every bit as productive as Bell and Juju is better than headcase AB at this point.

You can’t be a contender without an elite QB. It’s perhaps the most important factor. The Steelers still have an elite QB.

They’ll be just fine and I’d love to place a wager on that. Same goes for all of you on the “The Browns are going to win the AFC North” train!

I agree pit will probably still win the division since they have the best qb in their division, but I am talking about winning the Super Bowl. They coulda won if AB and LB were still there, now they are just another top 8 team in the league.

Vegas probably took the prop of Bell reporting for voluntary workouts off the board- no layups permitted.

Bell should've probably stayed with Pittsburgh, at least temporary. The Jets don't have the line or other pieces to accommodate him, like the Steelers. His replacement looks almost substantially better than he has. I think Conner is very good RB, but not in the same tier as Bell.

I don't think the Steelers will reach the playoffs, this year. Although, they are still very much in the mix, especially if Baltimore falls to the Pats, which is beyond likely. I dare say probable. Belichick against younger QBs, nearly always work in his favor. If the Steelers do manage to win the AFC North or grab one of the last wild card spots. It's going to be more of an indictment of Bell and Brown. Basically, a locker room can't survive those distractions.
