This is an older team with a limited window after all.

If things are really bad (and I don't think they will be) they can probably trade cp3 to a contender for a really good return

As today obviously not, but if the season takes a really bad turn (like in 2015/16) or one between Harden and Paul ends up injured for the season he should, i understand the will to be always competitive like Les had, but in the end you have to be smart, just look at Cuban, he tried to stay competitive with an old and meh team for few years, then he realized he was just throwing away years and with only two years of tanking he basically rebuilded his team. Sure, they won't win **** anyway as today, but considering how bad they were just 12 months ago, they're in a good position now with Doncic, DeAndre, some pieces to trade and a ton of capspace for the next two/three years. If we would be forced to give it up for one year and get a great 1st round pick, we would be able to be in the mix again in 10 months since our core is still very good.

Yao and Dream should team up and form a group to buy this team! Tilman seems to always have some kinda financial troubles...

Tillman can not improve the team that Morey has constructed.
Tillman is in a financial trouble.
    Tillman will blow it up.
The window is turning into a crack.
    Dark times are imminent......

Has an NBA owner ever blown up his team halfway thru the season, a WCF contender last year?

The Rockets will have the most expensive payroll in franchise history at roughly $143 million both this season and next season.
Barring roster changes, the Rockets will pay in excess of $25 million in luxury taxes this season. If they were a repeater team, that would cost them $88.8 million.

Tilman says if a first-round game is a struggle, I'm going to find me a new general manager.

    Why are we discussing this?

I thought Carl couldn’t get anymore obnoxious than when he went on a year long tantrum about Adelman leaving.

    Now I’m not so sure.

    Nope.

Tilman bought the team as a jewel to add to his crown ... i.e., you know you’ve “made it” in the world when you own a professional sports team.

Unfortunately that’s as deep as this owner goes. Any chance of success for this team will be based on a combination of luck in spite of Tilman, and Morey having an epiphany that a revolving door roster is not the “key to a championship”.

Still no sign of Tillman spending any money on the roster. Getting closer to blowing it up? CP3 buyout so he can chase a title with Tillman gaining more luxury tax profit.

Yes. But the timing of the blow up was this past summer. Fertita effectively blew up this team the minute he didn’t re-sign luc and ariza

He heavily mortgaged his hospitality business to buy his jewel.

I just realized the significance of your username.

Carl Herrera was on the roster the last time you made a meaningful post.
