Dallas, San Antonio??? They couldn't even afford to give that extra $1 million for Yogi and that caused Yogi to go to SacTown! Just like when OKC couldn't afford to give that $4 million to Harden and he had to be traded to Houston

Certainly a lot easier to pay the big bill when you are the champion.

I've seen some of the IT projects that are going on there. Very digitized arena...almost getting to Minority Report levels. It allows them to monetize the arena and fan base much better. BUT...I think the team will split up anyway. $180M is a LOT of money to give up in additional taxes, especially when the cap is around $110M.

They can have ring night 5x a year to recoup the loss. Astro-style

Easy to too the bill now when you have 2 all-stars signed on the cheap.

I heard that OKC trading Harden wasnt actually about the money. Moreso that Harden had greater ambitions than being a third wheel on a stacked team. He wanted to see if he could lead the league in scoring and absolutely wanted his own team.

Easy to pay the bill when you know the league/refs are going to help you

Last time the Warriors were really 'sweating' at all was after game 5, until CP's hamstring and Ken Mauer, Ed Malloy, and Scott Foster bailed them out.

I've read pretty much the exact opposite, from Harden himself. He was happy as the 6th man. Had no clue what he was capable of.

Listen to his pre-draft interview and tell me if he sounds like a guy who would be content being a 6th man for his entire career....

the revenue that they generate from 41 sellouts every home game as well as the revenue generated from making the finals every year should have them willing to spend that much in taxes...not to mention how much they generate in things like merchandise sales

the amount of money they make every year is ridiculous

Joe Lacob: We're Still Really Hungry, That's What People Should Be Worried About

Joe Lacob explained one of the reasons why the Golden State Warriors continue to sustain their title run with moves such as signing DeMarcus Cousins.

“There’s a lot of market inefficiencies in the NBA,” Lacob said. “Other teams could have gotten Cousins, but they didn’t. There’s always going to be some sort of opportunity, some inefficiency, I believe.”

Lacob is angling for the Warriors to be a dynasty that extends beyond the careers of his current stars.

“We’re still really hungry,” Lacob said of the Warriors. “That’s what people should be worried about if they’re going to be worried about anything.”

Well yeah, it's easy when your best player is willing to take a 10 million dollar discount each year, and effectively save your franchise another 40 million in taxes.
