Was reading an article the other day saying UH has a "Collection of street ballers" that can get hot on any given night. Hopefully this is true throughout the Tourney. Go Coogs!
Lunardi moved us up to a 9 seed, but we should be higher, even after beating Cincinnati he kept us at the same 10 seed while dropping Cincinnati. Given we are a top 25 Bpi and Rpi, I don't quite understand why we aren't higher or jumping some teams. Additionally, we've played this entire season on the road. But we'll get there if we keep winning and we'll start lunging forward much like the Keenum Cougars. We'll likely lose a game somewhere, and that will hurt our forward momentum, but it's all good at this point. As far as Top 25 polls, think we'll squeeze in this week or next.
13 years since UH has been ranked in the top 25. hopefully they can close out the season well and ride the momentum into the NCAA tourney
If they run the table and have a good run in the conference, say, semi finals, they should have no worse than a six seed.
The previous team that went to the NCAA tournament, led by Tom Penders and Aubrey Coleman, would more accurately fit that description. I don't feel that way at all about this year's team. They don't rely on streaky shooting or "street ball." They play tough, physical team defense and, even though they're relatively short as a team, they attack the glass and out-rebound their opponents. Here's a good article about them. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...AA-bubble-thanks-to-new-identity-12631363.php
2nd half meltdown. Coogs did not resemble a ranked team in the second half. That memphis scrub Thornton went nuts and had by far his best game of the season.
Miracle game by Memphis. Without their best guard and Thornton had a career game. They had terrible looks and 2nd chance baskets going their way.
Not thrilled. But losing to Memphis on the road shouldn't be a big deal. We just need to take care of business in the next three and we should coast in. The way I look at it most of the bubble teams will be in the .500 - .650 winning percentage range this week and we have a big lead on them as an 8-10 seed. They will lose to. They Cougars would probably have to go 1-3 down the stretch for us to feel nervous.
